Abstract

1. Taxiway safety system for aerodromes, with taxiway centreline lighting and holding-point lighting that is formed by a stop bar (4) which is arranged transversely to the taxiway direction, and which can be switched on and off, in particular before the taxiway/runway junction, and with vehicle detectors (1, 2) that are sited adjacent to the stop bar (4), characterized in that a segment (5) of the taxiway centreline lighting is sited after the stop bar (4), in the taxiway direction, this being a segment which can be switched on and off separately, in that a sequential switching circuit is provided, which switches off the stop bar (4) and switches on the segment (5) of the taxiway centreline lighting once a clearance has been given, by manual means, to taxi into the takeoff start position, and in that once an aircraft has been detected by a vehicle detector (2) that is sited after the stop bar (4), the sequential switching circuit switches the stop bar (4) on again.
