Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

   Lifting magnet The introduction of lifting magnets fails in many cases because, due to their very large weight, they put a great deal of unnecessary stress on the hoist.

  The load capacity of the magnets can be determined. significantly increase greater arousal; for reasons of warming the wrapping, however, a limit is soon reached.

  Attempts have now been made to increase the performance of the magnets by artificially cooling the winding. But the rib cooling proposed for this purpose works only imperfectly, since it essentially only cools the magnet jacket; because there is no adequate heat exchange between the winding, which is covered by electrical insulating material, which is also a poor conductor of heat, and the outside air.

  It is also known to use compressed air to cool the windings, but in this case the necessary hose routing with the required mobility of the lifting magnets gives rise to considerable inconvenience in the company.

  According to the present invention, effective and operationally reliable cooling is achieved in that, as indicated in the drawing, an electrically operated fan built into the lifting magnet guides an air flow through channels in such a way that the air flow sweeps directly past the windings, which are divided into several layers and escapes from the winding duct after its effect as a cooler.

  This fan is expediently combined with the switch of the lifting magnet for the purpose of regulating its rotational speed in such a way that with increasing excitation of the magnet, the cooling effect of the fan is increased and thus a considerable increase in the load capacity of the magnet can be achieved. As a result, the weight of the magnet itself is less of a consideration.
