Description

Process for producing stained glass.
The subject of the present fatigue is a process for the production of glass painting in which gelatin is used as the color carrier. The procedure is as follows:
On a glass plate, which does not require any special preparation, the contours of the desired drawing are applied with oil paint and then the fields are covered with a transparent, aqueous solution of gelatine, which has been given the desired color by adding suitable colors, such as tar dyes the deep shades required in places can be achieved by applying a layer of a thin varnish to the first dried gelatin layer, e.g. B. applies shellac or rosin and after drying the same applies a second correspondingly colored gelatin layer.
The contours drawn with oil paint prevent the differently colored gelatine from flowing into one another in the neighboring fields.
After the applied gelatin has dried, the contours drawn in oil paint are removed by treating the board with a suitable solvent, such as turpentine oil or spirit, which does not dissolve the gelatin, and finally the contours are traced with dark-colored gelatin. The picture is then ready and can be coated with varnish if desired.
EMI1.1
can be applied to each other and on top of each other, even if they are not separated by outlines in oil paint or isolated by layers of varnish.
Very perfect stained glass is obtained in this simple and cheap way.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A method for producing stained glass, in which gelatine is used as the color carrier, characterized in that the contours of the picture are drawn in oil paint on a glass plate, aqueous, appropriately colored transparent gelatine is applied to the field, and the oil paint is applied after the gelatine has dried removed by a non-aggressive solvent. trace the contours with dark-colored gelatin solution, whereupon the dried picture can be coated with varnish.
