Abstract
Se describen plantas de girasol resistentes a herbicida, polinucleotidos aislados que codifican polipéptidos de subunidad mayor de la acetohidroxiácido sintetasa de tipo salvaje y resistente a herbicida (AHASL), y la secuencia de aminoácidos de estos polipéptidos. También se describen casetes de expresion y transformacion vectores que comprenden los polinucleotidos de la presente, así como plantas y células huésped transformadas con los polinucleotidos. Asimismo se describen métodos de uso de los polinucleotidos para aumentar la resistencia de las plantas a herbicidas, y métodos para controlar malezas en la vecindad de plantas resistentes a herbicidas.
