Abstract
Secuencias de ácidos nucleicos de Nicotiana tales como secuencias que codifican polipéptidos constitutivos, o inducidos por etileno o senectud, en especial enzimas del citocromo p450,enplantas de Nicotiana y métodos para usar estas secuencias de ácidos nucleicos y plantas para alterar rasgos deseables, por ejemplo mediante el uso de protocolos de mejoramiento. Reivindicacion 1: Un método de mejoramiento para producir una planta de tabaco que posee una disminucion en la expresion de un gen de nicotina desmetilasa, comprendiendo dicho método los pasos de: (a) proveer una primera planta de tabaco que posee expresion variable del gen de la nicotina desmetilasa; (b) proveer una segunda planta de tabaco que posee al menos un rasgo fenotípico; (c) cruzar dicha primera planta de tabaco con dicha segunda planta de tabaco para producir una planta de progenie F1; (d) recolectar las semillas de dicha progenie F1 para dicha expresion variable del gen de la nicotina desmetilasa; y (e) germinar dicha semilla para producir una planta de tabaco que posee una disminucion en la expresion de un gen de nicotina desmetilasa.Nicotiana nucleic acid sequences such as sequences encoding constituent polypeptides, or induced by ethylene or senescence, especially cytochrome p450 enzymes, Nicotiana plants and methods for using these nucleic acid sequences and plants to alter desirable traits, for example by the use of improvement protocols. Claim 1: An improvement method for producing a tobacco plant that has a decrease in the expression of a nicotine demethylase gene, said method comprising the steps of: (a) providing a first tobacco plant that has variable expression of the gene of nicotine demethylase; (b) provide a second tobacco plant that has at least one phenotypic trait; (c) crossing said first tobacco plant with said second tobacco plant to produce an F1 progeny plant; (d) collecting the seeds of said F1 progeny for said variable expression of the nicotine demethylase gene; and (e) germinate said seed to produce a tobacco plant that has a decrease in the expression of a nicotine demethylase gene.
