A support ring (66) is fixed to the column sleeve (22) and a pair of support bars (62) are fixed to the support ring (66) and the central descending tube (42) to transfer the load to the column shirt (22). Fixing locks (71) extend between the central descending tube (38) and another support ring (70) to transfer another portion of the load from the centrifugal contact tray to the column sleeve (22). A support method of at least one return contact tray and at least one centrifugal contact tray having tray platforms with a plurality of steam ducts, at least one central descending tube and at least one annular descending tube in a mass transfer column.
