Abstract

Disclosed is an expansion joint for installation at adjacent edges of adjacent concrete sections. The joint comprises opposed rails (2, 4) that are mountable to the respective concrete sections and a cover plate system linked to the rails for spanning the gap between the concrete sections. The cover plate system comprises at least one cover plate (8). The upper surface of the cover plate (8) has one or more channels containing an infill (10) of a slip resistant material. The channels extend lengthwise and the upper surface of the infill (10) is substantially flush with the upper surface of the cover plate (8).
