Abstract
Et apparat (fig. 2) og en fremgangsmåte (fig. 5) for å bestemme raske og langsomme skjærbølgehastigheter og -orienteringer i en anisotrop grunnformasjon, som reduserer feil og tvetydighet ved beregning av disse parametrene, og eliminerer behovet for dipolmottakere (104, 106) og flere dipolkilder (102). Apparatet innbefatter generelt en eneste dipolkilde (200) for å generere et akustisk signal i et borehull. Den akustiske loggesonden inneholder flere nivåer med mottakere. På hvert nivå mottar fire mottakere (204, 206, 208, 210), som kan være vanlige trykktransdusere, skjær/bøyebølge-signaler som forplanter seg langs borehulls-grunnformasjonen. Disse mottakerne måler trykkfellene fra bølgesignalene. En behandlingsanordning (214), fortrinnsvis en UNIX-basert datamaskin, interpolerer de målte trykkfellene mellom hvilke som helst to tilstøtende mottakere. Behandlingsanordningen utfører tverrkomponent-dekomponering på trykkfeltet, for å bestemme skjærbølgeorientering og -hastighet. Ved bruk av skjærbølgeorienteringen og -hastigheten bestemmer behandlingsanordningen transittid-anisotropi, energi-anisotropi og langsomhets-anisotropi.
