Abstract
Description
Method for breaking down natural manure in the stable by means of bacteria.
The method according to the invention aims at the reduction of animal feces to a harmless substance, such that the development process leading thereto takes place near the origin of these feces, therefore in the stable. In this way a considerable saving is obtained compared to external processing. For this purpose, a seed bed is provided, consisting of wood sawdust mixed with bacteria which are known to break down the organically harmful substances in the manure. The autotrophic bacteria used for the invention, with preference for ammonium and nitrogen, are known and are readily available in nature. Because the growing conditions for the bacteria used are optimal between 20 and 37 * C, the average house temperature offers the ideal conditions for growth and multiplication. As a result, a relatively small teaching of, for example, fifteen hundred grams per cubic meter is sufficient when applying the seed bed. By keeping the seed bed moving, the stable animals make an important contribution to the necessary oxygen supply and intensive mixing of sawdust and bacteria.
It will be clear that the method according to the invention necessitates no or only minor additional costs, while removal and storage of the residue depleted of harmful substances does not present unacceptable environmental problems. In addition, the residue can act as a filler in various industrial products.
As a result of the rapid multiplication of the bacteria used, only a relatively small amount of bacteria needs to be supplemented to maintain the process, because part of the residue can be added to the new seed bed during fattening. An additional advantage can be noted that mucking out can be done more hygienically and with less odor nuisance.
