Abstract

A membrane filter has a pressure vessel which contains separate disc shaped membrane supports. It has an inlet for the feed and outlets for permeate and concentrated product. At least one cleaning element is mounted between each pair of supports. During cleaning of the membrane the supports can move relative to the cleaning of the membrane. Used for reverse osmosis or ultrafiltration. The membranes can be cleaned easily without complicated treatment and their resistance remains constant over long periods of use.
