Abstract

(Co)polyester substantially of polyethylene terephthalate is produced by transesterification of one or more benzene dicarboxylic acid esters with one or more alkylene glycols in the pres. of an Mn cpd. and this is then condensed in the pres. of a Ge cpd. and at some stage during either transesterification or condensation a small amount (pref. 0.02 - 2.0 equivs. of Mn) of metallic Sb is added, the metal pref. having a particle size 100 mu:.
