Abstract

The foot rest (1) for an invalid chair is attached to the front vertical frame member (2) of the chair and is shown deployed downwards in the Figure. It comprises a sole plate (3) with downward front flange (3'), pivotable about axes (7 and 13) to a folded up position by moving a lever (24) in the direction of the arrow. Rotation of the lever (24) pushes down a spring loaded operating rod which rotates a cam at the bottom end to raise an arm (4), by a cable, thus tilting the sole plate to a vertical position against the front of the seat, the motion being controlled by a compression spring (23).
