Abstract

The present invention has an object to provide a toothbrush (11, 21) which can effectively remove dental plaque and provide a superior cleaning sensation, as well as ensuring superior resistance to breakage of bristles even when the resistance to outwardly bending of bristle tips of the toothbrush is enhanced. A toothbrush (11, 21) is provided in which a plurality of bristle tufts (112, 212) are tufted on a bristle-tufting surface (118a, 218a) of a head portion (118, 218), the tip portion of bristle tuft (112, 212) is provided with a tapered portion (121, 221) the diameter of which is gradually reduced toward the tip, and bristle tufts (112, 212) have tapered bristles (120, 220) having a ratio B1/A1 of the maximum stress B1 to the maximum stress A1, calculated according to a predetermined stress calculation method, in the range of from 1.0 to 1.9.
