Abstract
THE PRESENT INVENTION PROVIDES A PROCESS FOR PRODUCING A TITANIUM OXIDE CONCENTRATE WHICH COMPRISES OXIDIZING A TITANIFEROUS ORE OR SIMILAR ORES TO OBTAIN AN OXIDIZED ORE WHICH HAS A PSEUDO-BROOKITE STRUCTURE AND OF WHICH 90-100% OF AMOUNT OF THE IRON CONTENT IS IN A FERRIC STATE, THEN REDUCING THE OXIDIZED ORE AT 700-950?C AND THEREAFTER LEACHING THE REDUCED ORE WITH SULFURIC ACID TO REMOVE THE IRON CONTENT IN THE ORE.
