Abstract
The present invention relates to a container for sending and displaying a product in a box, comprising: an upper panel with side panels hingedly joined to it forming a cover, a lower panel with lower side panels hingedly joined thereto forming a tray; the side panels of the cover are disposed within the lower side panels of the tray and rest against the lower panel, thereby housing the product in a shipping box, and the lower side panels of the tray have at least two fins attached individually substantially over the entire length of the individual lower side panels, to at least two lower side panels of the tray in demarcation lines therebetween, the wings are adhered to the side panels of the cover, the wings are separable from the panels bottom side of the respective tray along the lines of demarc and the cover can be removed from the container to display the product in the
Description
SHIPPING / EXHIBITION CONTAINER This invention relates to a shipping container, which can be converted to an exhibition after it is opened at the destination point. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION U.S. Patent 4,784,271 discloses a tear strip for tearing a wide adhesive strip to separate the upper portion of a shipping container from the lower tray portion. U.S. Patent 5,105,950 relates to a carbon paper lid constructed in such a way that the cardboard can be packaged safely and without the need for a plastic tape. The lid has elongated side panels with two parallel lines of weakness (eg, perforations) formed in each of them. The lower part, the holding portion of the side panels is secured, as by adhesive, to the side walls of the cardboard body. The cardboard is packed without deformable material, such as business forms, which extend above the upper edge of the carton. After the cap is compressed, the components are maintained in the compressed condition and the side panels are glued to the side walls of the cardboard body. A user can hold the strip between the lining of weakness and separate the lid, leaving the lid with an unequal limit, in unpleasant aspect. It is an object of the invention to provide a new and improved shipping / display container, which can be opened using a knife or other sharp instrument without damaging by cutting the cartons in the container. It is another object of the invention to provide a new and improved shipping / display container of simplified construction. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION According to the invention, a container adapted for sending and displaying a product in a box, includes an upper panel and articulated side panels joined to it forming a cover and a lower panel and side panels
lower hingedly joined to it forming a tray.
The side panels of the cover are placed inside
J _. of the side panels of the tray and placed against the bottom panel, so they lodge the product in the box. The tray was of at least two fins attached to at least
two lower side panels on the demarcation lines between them. The fins adhere to the side panels of the cover and are adapted to be separated from the lower side panels of the tray, such that the cover can be removed to display the product.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION DB THE DRAWINGS Figure 1 is a perspective view, the exploded view of a shipping / display container with cartons to be loaded therein, with the container in the loading position which is inverted with respect to its position of exhibition; Figure 2 is a side sectional view of the container of Figure 1 with the cartons loaded therein; Figure 3 is an end section view of the container of Figure 1 with cartons loaded thereon, taken at right angles to the sectional view of Figure 2; Figure 4 is a perspective view of the loaded container of Figure 1; Figure 5 is a side sectional view of the container of Figure 4 with the cartons loaded thereon; Figure 6 is an exploded view of the container of Figure 4 with the cover removed from the lower tray; Figure 7 is a flattened plan view; Figure 8 is a plan view of the flattened roof. DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED MODALITY Figure 1 shows a tray 12 formed with lateral panels 12b hingedly attached to a lower panel and the fins 12a attached to the side panels 12b on the demarcation lines 13. The cartons 11 are loaded on the cover 10 before from the assembly to the tray. Figure 2 shows the cover loaded with the cartons 11 and having fins 12a adhered to it, for example by glue. Figure 4 shows where the upper panels 14 and the side panels 15 are hingedly joined to form the cover 10, which is shown attached to the tray 12 in its display position. The side panels 15 hingedly attached to the upper panels 14, are placed inside the lower side panels 12b of the tray 12. At least two fins 12a are joined to at least two lower side panels 12b on the demarcation lines 13 between they. The fins 12a are adhered to the side panels 15 of the cover 10. All the panels and fins are preferably of corrugated material. The demarcation lines 13 are preferably perforations which are parallel to the bottom panel of the tray. Now with reference to Figure 5, at the display point, the fins 12a can be cut along the demarcation lines 13 and separated from the lower side panels 12a. The length of the knife of the knife 16 shown in Figure 5 is established according to the thickness of the fin 12a and the cartons 11 are protected from being cut by the side panels 15 between the blade of the knife and the cartons 11. As shown in FIG. represented in Figure 6, the container 10 can then be lifted from the tray 12 to display the cartons 11. Figure 7 is a view of the flattened tray in which the demarcation lines 13 are formed as parallel perforations to facilitate separation of fins 12a after shipment. Figure 8 shows the flattened cover 10 having the side panels 15 and the top panels 14.
