Abstract
Se describe un proceso para reducir por lo menos parcialmente oxidos de hierro, que comprende la formacion de un lecho de reactivos sobre un hogar de un horno de hogar giratorio, los reactivos comprenden: (a) una mezcla de finos de mineral de hierro y material carbonáceo en partículas y/o (b) microaglomerados de finos de mineral de hierro y material carbonáceo en partículas. La mezcla y/o los microaglomerados se calientan en el horno de hogar giratorio, para por lo menos reducir los oxidos de hierro. Los "microaglomerados" son aglomerados que son menores de 1400 micras (y de preferencia más de 500 micras) de diámetro. El producto, por lo menos parcialmente reducido, se utiliza de preferencia en la produccion de hierro metálico. También se describe un aparato para reducir por lo menos parcialmente oxidos de hierro. El proceso permite la operacion del horno de hogar giratorio sin requerir el empastillado de los finos de oxido de hierro y carbon.
