Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a combustion variation between cycles when applying control for making an application period of a high voltage applied to an ignition plug overlap on a period of fuel injection by an injector to the activation of an exhaust emission purification catalyst.SOLUTION: During catalyst warmup control, first injection by an injector 30 is performed in an intake stroke, and second injection which is smaller than the first injection in an amount is performed in an expansion stroke subsequent to a compression top dead point.
