Abstract
The present invention refers to the obtention of semi-finished nanocomposite leather (in crust) including flame retardant properties, with the incorporation of nanoparticles of sodium bentonite clay chemically modified with L-lysine amino acid by the process of cationic exchange, and the combination of phosphorus-based compounds such as phosphoric acid and a fatliquore based on phosphoric esters. The nanocomposite leather presents flame retardant properties, which comply with the specifications of the standard 14 C.D.F.R. 25.853 (a) appendix F part I (i) and part (ii), also including enough mechanical properties to be used in the industry as a tapestry product with an improved color intensity. One of the main characteristics of the present invention is that the aforementioned process does not require an additional coating process in the leather for providing it with the flame retardant properties, these properties being achieved during the traditional leather process of humid finish. The obtained nanocomposite leather may be used as a tapestry product in the transport industry, such as the automotive, aeronautics, rail industries and in the furniture industry amongst others.
