Abstract

An exterior rear-view mirror for motor vehicles having a mirror base (2) which can be attached to the body (1) of the vehicle and a mirror housing (5) which is mounted on the mirror base with spring force in the position of use is described, one edge (18) of the mirror housing resting on a shoulder (3) of the mirror base and the mirror housing being rearwardly swivellable relative to the mirror base counter to the spring force in the driving direction (10) about the rear edge section (8) of said mirror housing.
