Removing images from the translation tool

edit

Hello Ата! Who decided to remove images from the translation tool? That's for me a regression in localization! You e.g. marked Help:Aliases for translation. In message Translations:Help:Aliases/1 was an image that is still inserted in the translated page. But it isn't possible any more to use an own localized image. If I do that then I will have two images on the translated page, the original and the translated one. If there is any decision to remove all images from the translation tool, please revert this decision! Regards, --Michawiki (talk) 23:53, 13 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Actually, it is better to leave for translators only text they are going to work with, not markup which they don't change. That is why I marked such version for translation. There are not so many localized images and I (my fault) didn't check the situation with images on Help:Aliases page.
I have an idea to make a template like {{Tnt}} but for images. This would be the solution but not yet. -- Ата (talk) 17:21, 14 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your reply. The best is to leave translator as big as possible freedom for translation. Suddenly images shall not be translated. It was always possible. Anybody had an idea, may be he even is not a translator. The whole time there wasn't any issue by localized images. Where has been made this decision? Where is a page for discussing about translations issues, a meeting place between translators and translation admins? --Michawiki (talk) 21:30, 14 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
There is #wikimedia-translationconnect IRC channel (not very crowded though). I haven't found a page for translators here on Wikidata. And about images. User:Kaganer created a cute template — {{Localized media}}. It requires unified naming of files and it works (see Help:Aliases in de & fr). I think its great :) -- Ата (talk) 07:10, 21 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hey Ата, there is no sitelink on Q60601243, and I cannot find anything to connect with this item. Did you forget to create the corresponding category uk:Категорія:Лауреати премії НАН України імені В. І. Вернадського in ukwiki? Thanks, MisterSynergy (talk) 08:46, 20 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for drawing my attention to that! --Ата (talk) 13:00, 20 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Правопис

edit

Вітаю. Перевірте будь ласка ось цю правку [1]. Чи немає заперечень. Blast furnace chip worker (talk) 11:10, 19 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

--Infovarius (talk) 11:08, 14 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Infovarius: Hi, I assumed that category uk:Категорія:Фільми СРСР за республікою would contain pages that do belong there. I randomly checked several pages and they looked fine, so I don't expect all of the edits from batch to be false. How did you spot the ones you reverted? -- Ата (talk) 08:34, 15 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
The problem is that "республика" is not a country. "СРСР" is the country and in most cases it is already mentioned. I reverted the ones in my watchlist where you added republics which don't exist up to publication date. But I suppose most additions about USSR period should be also reverted. Bombonek, will you add some arguments? --Infovarius (talk) 08:03, 16 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
In my opinion, country of origin (P495) is just a country (for example Soviet Union), not a part of (same) country (for example Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic). (Our) Czech Wikipedia uses P495 in infoboxes. For example: on page Modrý pták (film, 1976) is a list of coutries of origin in a infobox (it uses WD). The list in form: Soviet Union, United states and Russian SFSR was confusing. In cases like this, I decided to revert P495. (Sorry for my bad English.) --Bombonek (talk) 11:37, 16 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
Absolutely wrong decision. Can be compared with adding California (Q99) for Hollywood films. Сидик из ПТУ (talk) 22:17, 13 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Вітаю. Можеш на моїй сторінці обговорення пояснити тому чудіку, що параметр потрібно заповнювати всіма мовами для коректного відображення його у картках, а то в мене з англійською не дуже. Kamelot (talk) 11:59, 22 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Kamelot, я не шарю в правилах використання цієї властивості, тому не буду одразу кидатись в захист; мені це треба почитати-дослідити. Тим часом радила б обмежити вживання фраз типу I've been editing wikis for a long time, you must be a newbie, бо це звучить грубо і не сприяє спокою в діалозі 🙂 Ата talk 18:55, 22 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
