Special Issue of Neurochemical Research in Honor of Prof. Flávia C. A. Gomes

Participating journal: Neurochemical Research

Neurochemical Research has a long reputation and tradition of recognizing those who are outstanding neuroscientists. This tradition was started under Abel Lajtha and then Arne Schousboe as editors; both who unfortunately passed away earlier this year. They felt it important to recognize those who help in our understanding of brain function and are ambassadors to the field of neurochemistry. This tradition goes back almost 50 years as the journal will have its 50th volume in 2025.

Prof. Flávia C. A. Gomes exemplifies one of these special individuals. Not only does she have significant research contributions to the studies of glial function and dysfunction, but she is also a collaborative researcher, teacher, mentor and member of several neurochemical societies and journals. She is Head of the Laboratory of Cellular Neurobiology, Institute of Biomedical Sciences, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She recently held the position of ISN president (International Society of Neurochemistry 2021-2023).

This invitation for contributions to this special issue is being extended to those that played an important role in her academic and scientific journey, as mentors, students, scientific collaborators, or partners in the dissemination of Neurochemistry across the globe.
