Abstract
Endoscopic Surgery was introduced in general surgery particularly during the last 10 years. In the early eighties, only a small number of specialists used endoscopes to perform surgical tasks, whereas in 1996 endoscopic operative procedures, as for instance cholecystectomy, became standard therapy. The training of the endoscopic surgeon therefore became a major task to guarantee safe introduction of the new operative technique into clinical routine.
