Abstract
So far, we have explained the details of the basic components of NS2 including their functionalities, internal mechanisms, and configuration methods. In this chapter, we demonstrate how new NS2 modules are created, configured, and incorporated through two following examples. One is an Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) protocol, which is a mechanism to improve transmission reliability of a communi- cation link by means of packet retransmission. Another is a packet scheduler which arranges the transmission sequence of packets from multiple incoming data flows.
