Abstract
Monitoring natural environments has become increasingly important, leading to research focused on improving their performance. This paper introduces a system for communication among nodes in an environment. Specifically, we propose a novel approach called group-based collaborative environments for coastal area monitoring. This approach utilizes a hierarchical network architecture, organizing nodes into groups. Multiple environments within a coastal area are monitored using group-based wireless sensor networks (WSNs). We have developed a mathematical model to estimate the energy consumption of this network configuration. Simulation results demonstrate energy savings of approximately 45% can be achieved using this approach.
