Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

[pennfenten]

Can you improve the article about Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs? It's short, but I don't know what to add that's in Cornish. I don't know Cornish but am interested in Disney and other animation studios. Snow White was their first film, and Cinderella was the 12th. The others in their first five are Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo, and Bambi. Of those, Dumbo and Bambi are my favorites (mainly Bambi). I like Pinocchio as well. There are many more Disney animated movies, and in total Walt Disney Animation Studios has made 58 films so far (the next one comes out next year). Many of them are famous and popular, such as Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, and The Lion King. Their is also a related studio, Pixar, which produces more famous and popular movies like Finding Nemo and Toy Story (the latter of which was their first, just as Snow White was the first for Disney. I hope to start some of these pages, but I will need help expanding them. I don't know Cornish yet but I'm trying to learn languages. I've noticed that this language is somewhat like Welsh, which I know to some extent. I also know a little Irish, Scottish Gaelic, and Manx. So far, I don't know much Cornish, but I've love to learn it if possible. Writing articles is one way to learn. Anyway, I hope you don't mind this. Thank you for your time. 2600:1700:53F0:AD70:E0B9:F220:A78A:BAA4 20 Met 2020 da 21:37 (UTC)

What should the title translations be on The Little Mermaid, Toy Story, and Finding Nemo? Some more pages I would like to create: One Hundred and One Dalmatians, Oliver & Company, Lady and the Tramp, The Jungle Book, The Aristocats, and Tangled. I will start stubs, but they will need the titles translated as I don't know what their titles in Cornish would be. 104.58.147.208 21 Met 2020 da 21:55 (UTC)

Update: articles created. Next up: Aladdin, Up, Inside Out, and Peter Pan. I know that some of these movies are based on fairy tales and other stories, and some movies have more than one version. But what should the disambig style be? To give an example, should it be Charlotte's Web (fylm 1973) for Charlotte's Web (1973 film)? There is also a 2006 film called Charlotte's Web, and both are based on the book by E. B. White. Charlotte's Web wasn't a Disney movie, but it's one of my favorites nevertheless. 104.58.147.208 21 Met 2020 da 22:08 (UTC)

Update #2, those three are now up along with Descendants. Next up are Sleeping Beauty, The Sword in the Stone, The Princess and the Frog, Hercules, and Frozen II. There are also sequels to Descendants: Descendants 2 and Descendants 3. 104.58.147.208 21 Met 2020 da 22:16 (UTC)

Those articles are now up. The last one I'll do for now is Mulan. 104.58.147.208 21 Met 2020 da 22:23 (UTC)

If you see here, you'll see some of the pages I wrote were deleted. Can you recreate them? 104.58.147.208 24 Met 2020 da 22:53 (UTC)

WikiBayer deleted those pages as "long-term abuse", meaning Bambifan101. But I only tried writing decent stubs. The real abuse is on pages like Ben 10 where redirects were created, and they aren't related to the topic. I did my best to fix it. Did I do a good enough job on it, and can pages like Charlotte's Web be restored or recreated? 2600:1700:53F0:AD70:6856:30B6:2457:E295 20:15, 1 Hedra 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Bambi II, The Fox and the Hound 2, and The Fox and the Hound have links to other Wikipedias linked manually. Shouldn't they be taken off and linked to the Wikidata page instead? 2600:1700:53F0:AD70:3C5B:CFB8:3C45:6F6E 01:23, 16 Hedra 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Pages in Welsh

[pennfenten]

Dydh da! Just came across two pages in Welsh both by the same IP user (Teneuo coedwigaeth and Peiriant torri gwair), but I have no idea what the protocol here is for instances like this. Any ideas? Meur ras, Gazamp (keskows) 20:09, 18 Genver 2021 (UTC)[reply]

My guess would be deletion or translation, but I'm not sure who would be able to perform those actions. Aqchampion (keskows) 20:29, 18 Genver 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There are two actively editing Welsh-speakers, so I'll message them both. If neither wants to translate it, I'll enter a request for deletion on Metawiki. Hopefully that sounds OK... Meur ras, Gazamp (keskows) 18:24, 19 Genver 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Linking to wikidata pages

[pennfenten]

I've just created a page for John_Beag_Ó_Flatharta. There's a wikidata page for him at https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q82033920 but I have no idea how to link a page to a wikdata item if there is no wikipedia page in another language to link to. What do I have to do to link to it? Meur ras Brwynog (keskows) 21.19, 23 Metheven 2021 (UTC)

@Brwynog: Go to the Wikidata page, scroll down to the Wikipedia section, enter "kw" and the article title, then press publish. Aqchampion (keskows) 22:33, 23 Metheven 2021 (UTC) Meur ras Brwynog (keskows) 22.45, 23 Metheven 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Klassys politegoryon

[pennfenten]

Dydh da - meur ras for all your categorisation! I've seen you've been removing pages from the Klass:Politegoryon a'n Ruwvaneth Unys - would it be worth splitting the category by century (similar to this on English Wikipedia) as well as location? I'll leave it for you to decide as you seem to be the main categoriser around here. Gazamp (keskows) 21:06, 26 Gwynngala 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Gazamp: I'm not really interested in doing it by century, but it's fine with me if someone else wants to do it. I would be more likely to do it by location. Aqchampion (keskows) 09:22, 27 Gwynngala 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough - it's hardly essential. I might do it at some point but it's not a priority. Happy editing, Gazamp (keskows) 12:27, 27 Gwynngala 2021 (UTC)[reply]
[pennfenten]

Dydh da. I managed to link the page https://kw.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarfven to the wrong wikidata link originally. I managed to link it to the disambiguation page for serpentine i.e. Q401793 instead of serpentinite Q737339. I've tried changing the link in Elven wikidata, and I thought that I'd managed to unlink the page and then link it to the correct one, however obviously not. Are you able to help? Meur ras dhis Brwynog (keskows) 23.35, 11 Du 2021 (UTC)

@Brwynog: It looks like Sarfven has already been linked to Q737339. Q401793 is not connected to a kw article. Do you need help with Elven (karrek) or Elven (klerheans)? Aqchampion (keskows) 06:07, 12 Du 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Aqchampion: Why does the infobox for sarfven still mention the disambiguation page, then? Yes please, Elven (karrek) needs help, but the two pages mentioned in Elven (klerheans) aren't the same in English so don't need to be linked to wikidata (I think). Thanks for the offer. Brwynog (keskows) 08.06, 12 Du 2021 (UTC)

@Brwynog: If there's nothing wrong with the infobox code, then maybe you need to do some kind of refresh like clearing your browser's cache. Aqchampion (keskows) 08:57, 12 Du 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Translation request

[pennfenten]

Hi. Could you please translate this to Cornish?

Lingua Franca Nova (“Elefen”) is a language designed to be particularly simple, consistent, and easy to learn for international communications. It has a number of positive qualities:

  • 1. It has a limited number of phonemes. It sounds similar to Italian or Spanish.
  • 2. It is phonetically spelled. No child should have to spend years learning irregularities.
  • 3. It has a completely regular grammar, similar to the world’s creoles.
  • 4. It has a limited and completely regular set of productive affixes for routine word derivation.
  • 5. It has well-defined rules for word order, in keeping with many major languages.
  • 6. Its vocabulary is strongly rooted in modern Romance languages. These languages are themselves widespread and influential, plus they have contributed the major part of English vocabulary
  • 7. It is designed to be naturally accepting of Latin and Greek technical neologisms, the de facto “world standard”.
  • 8. It is designed to seem relatively “natural” to those who are familiar with Romance languages, without being any more difficult for others to learn.
  • We hope you like Elefen!

Thanks for your help. --Caro de Segeda (keskows) 11:07, 30 Me 2023 (UTC)[reply]
