What exactly is an iliac wing fracture? Who usually suffers that type of fracture? How do they occur? Page: “An iliac wing fracture is a rare fracture of the pelvis and is commonly associated with open injuries (bone protruding through the skin), bowel injuries, and severe soft-tissue (skin) injuries. An isolated fracture to the iliac wing does not cause pelvic instability and may be managed without surgery; however, associated injuries may lead to significant health complications.
