This is an archive tag for the GMD paper on the O3v2 module (https://… …doi.org/10.5194/gmd-2020-293). This version of code is used for the O3v2 simulations in the paper. It enables the O3v2 module on the maint-1.0 branch with the PSC T threshold for ozone depletion as a namelist variable.
Archive of convergence test code used by Wan et. al. (2020) This is an archive of the huiwanpnnl/atm/simple_condensation branch of the E3SM (DOI: 10.11578/E3SM/dc.20180418.36) GitHub repository. The branch contains modifications to produce all the short-term (1-h -- 12-h) convergence test simulations (with different configurations for simple condensation model) for Wan et al. (2020), Improving time-step convergence in an atmosphere model with simplified physics: the impacts of closure assumption and process coupling, Journal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, https://doi.org/10.1029/2019MS001982. SE dynamical core + simple condensation parameterization only for all of simulations.

Merge branch 'mark-petersen/ocean/redi_add_triads' (PR E3SM-Project#3391 ) Fix Redi mixing in ocean This PR brings in a new mpas-source submodule with corresponding changes to the mpas-ocean scripts. It adds capability to the Redi isopycnal mixing scheme, which is required for non-eddying resolutions. It includes: * Change to triad formulation to compute the isopycnal slope; * Linear expansion of density in T,S at each triad corner; * Several bug fixes, including a missing factor in the vertical mixing term; * Tapering Redi diffusion coefficient at top and bottom of each column; * Add ability for Redi diffusion coefficient to be a 3D field, rather than just constant; and * Two new Redi verification test cases in the COMPASS suite. According to Griffies et al 1998 this triad expansion of the slope calculation (my steps 1 and 2, his eqns 30-34) is total variance diminishing, and essential when using a nonlinear equation of state. It was used in MOM and POP. Though noise may still exist, it is much reduced. This PR leaves Redi mixing off by default, but is non-BFB due to mixing changes. After tuning exercises we will have a later PR that turns Redi mixing on for low resolution, with the proper settings. [NML] [non-BFB]
