When a picture of a receipt is taken, its data is organized and recorded in a spreadsheet or a money manager app automatically.
I like to think of myself as an organized person, who keeps track of everything. But like all others, I am not perfect. In fact, I am far from it. I often delay and procrastinate many things; one of which is organizing my finances. Although I do not (yet) keep track of a particular budget or anything, I try to be conscious of my spending and where they go. Therefore, I use a money-manager app, which basically is a glorified spreadsheet that allows me to record where, when, and what I spent my money on, has categories, charts, etc.
The problem arises however, not in the app, but in my inability to record every purchase and money flowing in/out of my bank account in detail, on time, without missing, in the app. I am either lazy, or unable to do it in the moment, and therefore end up never recording it, which leads to an inaccurate estimation of my finances and spending habit. I end up with piles of receipts that are never recorded and never to be seen again, sitting in a corner of my room.
And they say lazy people are the inventors of this world! Me, being too lazy to write down the things on the receipts, came up with the idea that will allow me to directly add the purchase information on the money-manager / spend-tracking application once a picture of the receipt is taken. Hopefully it cures my empty patches of missing data, but we'll see how it turns out.
