I don't think we should provide a milestone version as only choice, but stay on the latest stable.
What would be great would be a version selector where you can select which version to use as you can for the Groovy version, with the latest stable as default like for the Groovy version.
The default upgrade is also unlucky, as you can anytime within the snippet upgrade the version by using a grape like @Grab("org.spockframework:spock-core:2.4-M4-groovy-4.0"), but you cannot downgrade to an older version.
