Status: | In Development |
---|---|
Entered Development: | 2025/02/21 (Date Edk2 started accepting changes which were not in a previous release) |
Anticipated Stabilization: | May 2025 |
- MemoryBinOverrideLib and associated changes have been deprecated and dropped. Platforms should remove this library instance. Platforms which need this functionality should switch to using standard Edk method of creating gEfiMemoryTypeInformationGuid HOBS.
- NetworkPkg/NetworkPcds.dsc.inc has been removed. NetworkPkg/NetworkFixedPcds.dsc.inc and NetworkPkg/NetworkDynamicPcds.dsc.inc should be used instead.
- Sec type modules have been changed to USER_DEFINED. Platforms use a custom rules Rules.Common.SEC` will need to update with the new type.
- Stack Cookie support has been upstreamed into EDK2. StackCookies are linked into Module Entry Points instead of through NULL instances. - MdeLibs.dsc.inc can be used to access stack cookie libraries. Projects should define CUSTOM_STACK_CHECK_LIB` as STATIC or DYNAMIC if they want to use the upstreamed libraries. If CUSTOM_STACK_CHECK_LIB is not defined, the default behavior will be to use the StackCookieLibNUll. - Individual project dsc files can still choose the stack cookie library they want to use. They just need to define the StackCheckLib instance. - Modules that do not use the Edk2 entry points will need to manually add StackCheckLib to their libraries section of their INF files. - BaseStackCheckLib has been removed.
- ArmCompilerIntrinsicsLib has been renamed to CompilerIntrinsicsLib. - CompilerIntrinsicsLib now included in MdeLibs.dsc.inc. If platforms make use of MdeLibs.dsc.inc, they should remove any NULL instances of CompilerIntrinsicsLib
- VsIntrinsics lib has been dropped. Platforms should remove any instances of VsIntrinsicsLib.
- AsmMacroLibV8 (From ArmPkg) has been moved into MdePkg, renamed to AsmMacroLib.h under MdePkg/Include/Aarch64.
- AsmMacroIoLib has been split and moved from MdePkg/Include to MdePkg/Include/Arm and MdePkg/Include/Aarch64.
- UnitTests now use address sanitization. This requires the Visual Studio "C++ AddressSanitizer" component to be installed. (NOOPT builds)
- At the end of 202405, mu_basecore contained 470 commits on top of edk2-stable202405.
- At the start of 202502, mu_basecore contains 266 commits on top of edk2-stable202502.
Full MU changes list can be viewed in the changelog.
Reference platforms which consume release/202502 are available in mu_tiano_platforms.
Please note that this version of EDK2 has specific requirements when it comes to TF-A support. Platforms that consume this version of EDK2 must ensure their TF-A contains this set of patches. Failure to contain the appropriate patches will result in a failure to boot.
