Set extension options to "Redirect in current tab"
Go to a page (a.com) that has a hyperlink to another page that has a rewrite rule (link points to b.com, rule redirects to c.com)
Right click on the link to b.com and select "Open link in new tab"

The redirected c.com link now overwrites the a.com tab where you're currently on instead of the newly opened b.com tab that it should.

Sorry, looks like issue #86 already is about this exact problem, closing this one.
