This small change causes app-launcher to follow symbolic links so that *.desktop files can be managed by a program such as GNU Stow.
- remove explicit marginalia & custom annotation support - add basic icon support - fix lints/warnings
Otherwise, the launcher function needs to read from the cache which is a bit annoying.
