By using test suites, we explicitely configure the relevant dependencies on the test sourceset. This is not done by merely configuring the test task.

This PR fixes all Gradle deprecations that I found when running
gradlew build.Additionally, it upgrades Gradle to the latest stable version.
I also switch to a maintained version of Shadow. This causes a coordinate change.
As you can see in the github repo, this version is also
party maintained by Googler so I think this change is fine.
