Samatansyn Flamecaller is located in the Ranger Guild Hall in Kelethin, right in the middle of the hut. He's on Find (Ctrl+F).

You say, 'Hail, Samatansyn Flamecaller'

Samatansyn Flamecaller says 'It is a pleasure to meet you _____, I am Samatansyn Flamecaller, Warder of Tunare and Guildmaster of Faydarks Champions. I have studied here for many of my years until recently when I took up teaching. I have many pupils that undergo my vigorous [training exercises].'

You say, 'what training exercises'

Samatansyn Flamecaller says 'I have a series of tests that all new rangers of Kelethin are suggested to participate in. These tests will help you develop many of your skills including hunting and gathering and will also provide you with a chance to fashion your own Trueshot Chainmail. If you are a [ranger of Tunare] and are willing to begin your training I will be happy to explain to you how the tests work.'

You say, 'I am a ranger of tunare'

Samatansyn Flamecaller says 'Excellent _____, then lets get started! Here is your Trueshot Assembly Kit. You will collect various items from the Faydark and Clan Crushbone that will be necessary for creating your armor materials in your assembly kit. Once you have fashioned together a specific armor material you can then take it to a forge along with the applicable pattern to create your Trueshot Chainmail armor piece. Simply tell me what armor piece you [want] to craft and I can provide you with the material recipes and patterns for Trueshot Chainmail [Coifs], [Bracers], [Sleeves], [Boots], [Legplates], [Gauntlets] and [Tunics].'

You say, 'I want to craft a tunic'

Samatansyn Flamecaller says 'To create your tunic material you will need to combine 5 Bricks of Crude Bronze, 1 Orc Fibula, 1 Golden Bandit Tooth, 1 Pristine Forest Drakeling Scale, 1 Orc Ribcage and 1 Orc Eye in your assembly kit. Once you have created the proper material take it to a forge along with this mold to fashion your very own Trueshot Chainmail Tunic. Please return to me after you have completed your tunic, for I have one final [favor] to ask of you.'

I know that the NPC states using a mold, but you use an Enchanted Tunic Pattern for the tunic.

Please add that to the list of Quest Items.

Muahahahahaha... I love being a Ranger. I can track down the drakelings like its kewl. I just completed this quest after two days of starting the charactor. (Okay, so I took me time.) but while I was questing I was in the process of helping out others with tracking down things to bring up my skills. Wanted to venture GF again because it's been so long since I been there.

Now that I have all my quest items, I can now open this can here. Look, it's labeled Whoop ***.

Btw the Forest Drakelings life expectency is .2 seconds on the Stromm Server. *note that the server has been up for a week and two days and no transfers allowed, for future reference when everyone is ubber.

Since most people have posted all this already I am just going to say the ones that people find the hardest to get and where I personally got them.

1. Pristine Drakeling Scale - The hardest to get and most in demand piece because it seems like every other class needs one also for their quest. Dropped for me after about 90 regular Drakeling kills, nothing special, just kill every one you see til your number comes up or buy one off the scale farming greedy types.

2. Orc Fibula, got one of mine off a slaver and got my second one off the Orc Warden, both were in the slaver cave in CB.

3. Master Key for weapon quest was also off the Orc Warden, don't forget the two orc eyes you need to turn in with it for the weapon. I do not know if you can MQ(multiquest) the master key with another character and turn in the orc eyes with ranger to get weapon or not, but would think so if all involved had good Ranger Guild faction.

4. Orc Ribcage, got mine off a legionnaire but I think I recall seeing them on slavers as well.

That's all I recall, hope it helps somebody, if still confused look at all the great posts below mine with how other people did it.

where the hell do you get around telling people what to do, if they want to do this quest good for them for taking the not as easy way out, and as to killing all the things to get the stuffr, well if they just sit around not killing things to get the stuff they arnt going to level are they?

As of level 10 my new Ranger has all the components for all the armor except for the lightstone, and will pick that up tomorrow in EC. As the newby quests go, this one seems to be relatively easy, though having tracking obviously helps with the raer drops... and the armor should be decent enough for a few levels.

If you're not a high enough level, you'll have to get to about level 7 or 8 (at least) and head into Crushbone. Most of the NO DROP bones you need for the wood elf newbie armour are found in CB.

For these newbie armour quests, the skill required is pretty low. At zero skill, your chances of a successful combine are pretty decent. If in doubt, get it up to 15 or 20 and you ought to be set.

These are no fail combines, the skill required is ZERO, there is absolutely NO chance that you will fail the combine.

On the other hand, you might get lucky and get a skillup :)

for most of you that work hard at getting the stuff together to make it i congradulate you on doing so but to tell you the truth if you want good armour you can buy ivy etched armour for at least 1kpp from higher levels there is several ways to get the plat and thay are buy it off line yet another lazy way or go to butcherblock mountains and camp aqua 1 or 2 to get items from the aqua goblins that sell for 1-3pp each! i would suggest camping for about a week to get enough! also its best if you are over level 12 so you dont get mobed by too many goblins at one time!

The work it would take me to earn 1kpp dwarfs the amount of work it takes to get the trueshot. For lower levels it's good armor, and easy enough to get. 1-3pp for the aqua goblins stuff, so at minimum that would be killing 334 of them and at most 1000 of them? I'd rather run around looking for drakeling scales at lvl 8. By the time I get all the trueshot stuff I might be high enough lvl'ed to worry about the ivy etched lol.
RE: a good days work
# Sep 24 2003 at 5:19 PM Rating: Decent
I just love these folks who think everyone has thousands of pp to throw around buying armor and stuff they could be out questing for (which is the point of the game, if I'm not mistaken)
RE: a good days work
# Dec 07 2003 at 11:51 AM Rating: Default
True McDuncan, but these days the reality is that if you can't come up with 1k by the time you are level 10 you are seriously doing something wrong or don't have Luclin. With what pelts and silks (both raw and in threads and swatches) go for, a week of farming spiderlings after they go green and you should have no problem getting at least 1k.

That said, I do the newbie quests when I make alts anyways. They are interesting and a challenge, somthing that they keep removing from the game more and more =)

RE: a good days work
# Jan 04 2004 at 8:20 PM Rating: Decent
You just contradicted yourself. You say that leveling up to 10 you can have at least 1kpp, but use the Bazaar to do so. And then you say that you do NEWBIE quests. NEWBIES do not know that you can sell pelts, silks, etc. in the Bazaar. They do not even know what the Bazaar is at first, for that matter. Also, Newbies are not inerested in farming at all, and do not know the best places to get the items to sell.

ok i camped near the newbie area for several days and nothing then when i gave up and started to go for the ulna in nek i killed a drake near felwithe zone and low and behold the pristine scale dropped I am still debating if it was worth the time. So if you have a lot of patience and time go for it.

I got most of my stuff off the merchants and the orc eye except the orc stuff which most is only found in CB. Im to lazy and my comp is very slow (im under the min requirements in 3 areas) so i deserve a break from all the lag and dying because my comp is froze for like 2 min while crush is bonking me. i cant wait to get my new comp. (pentium 4 2.53 ghz, 160gb 7200rpm hard drive, 128mb GeForce4 ti, sound blaster live! 5.1, and more really good stuff...)
RE: I Cheated
# Sep 15 2002 at 8:42 PM Rating: Decent
The idea is, as far as I'm concerned, to get it done. If you use what others sell to the vendors, hey!, it's workable.
So no need to explain yourself.
I've done the same, and so have others.
Luck to you, fellow ranger.
RE: I Cheated

if you read the quest it says you will collect items from gfay and crushbone it says nothing about killing anything to collect the items. why not collect off the merchants.

The ribcage drops off the centurions in Crushbone. I wasn't entirely sure, having killed about 30 centurions with no result, but lo and behold, number 31 had it, and I can confirm it. However, I'm sure the higher end orcs, --legionnaires/oracles/slavers etc tend to drop the various bones more regularly than the centurions do, unfortunately, they are much higher level. =\

What drops the fibula? Or is it just an extremely rare drop? I've spent the last 2 nights in Crushbone and have yet to see one.

Thanks for any info you can supply!

Figures, after I post this I find one. It dropped off an Orc Slaver, looks like a clavicle.

RE: Fibula?
# Aug 13 2002 at 2:08 PM Rating: Decent
Here is what I got:

Fibula's - dropped both off only the slavers from the slaver pit
Tibia - dropped off Lego's for me. In the first bridge.
Ulna's - only dropped for me off the Lego's.
Clavical - I got off of the cent's in front of the Trainer on Trainer hill.
Severed Foot - Any cent in Gfay or CB.
Orc Eye - any cent in Gfay or CB.
Prestine Drake Scale - Any drake in GFay. (I got mine from the newbie area)
Gold Bandit tooth - Well, the bandits in GFay. Dropped pretty easily/common.
Orc Ribcage - dropped off a lego and warden for me.
Lightstone - Willowisp (get your boots first for kicking them and get a magic weapon)

All of the pieces are progressive. The pieces are off mobs that are tougher and tougher for the piece your trying for. Case in point:
Boot - Severed Foot and 2 spider legs.
Tunic - Prestine Drake Scale (rare), Ribcage, etc...
Sorry this turned out to be a listing of what I got - where for my full set but I thought it was relevant information.

I think the ulna drops off Orc Scoutsman. This is the only orc I haven't killed yet in CB, and I still haven't found the ulna.
Which is better?
# Jul 26 2002 at 4:32 PM Rating: Default
Note to half-elf rangers: IMO, the newbie armor quests out of Surefall are better, since those items grant Wisdom bonuses. This armor is perfect for wood elves, but those half elves who suffer from low wisdom scores (i.e. most of them) may want to purchase a port to Surefall and try to get Pine Scout armor instead.

Fibula Ulna and Drake Scale etc
# Jul 26 2002 at 5:15 AM Rating: Decent
Okay I thing for a newb quest its good but the drop rate really needs to be upped. Okay got the pristine scale yesterday (before i wrote down all the quest pieces) and destroyed it to carry some more crude bronze :(. Spent today about 6hrs between Gfay and Crush bone and have completed bracer/boots/coif/sleaves. In this time i probably killed 200 cents, 100pawns, and 50 Legos/Oracles/Emissaries, and crush maybe 5 time, and maybe 50 drakes. Have yet to get the 2 Fibulas (1 is for legs), another Scale, or the Ulna. I'd also suggest just go to EC/WC to get the lightstone (for legs too) as the wisps or so rare and drop burntout lightstones probably 9/10 times. To help anyone with stuff, Orc pawns in Gfay drop Finger bones (rarely), Cents in Gfay drop severed foot, Cents in CB drop a lot of the bronze, the tibia (infrequently), Legos drop bronze too. I think Crush/Legos/Emissery/Trainers can drop the ribcage and all but pawns drop eyes i think. Not 100 percent sure but hope this helps anyone who wants this stuff.
