Categories On Your Page

edit

im working on cleaning up all the categories of architecture and i found your user page listed everywhere. in fact, you're the only user listed in those places. those categories are setup to sort and easily find related articles, but you're listed mixed in with the bunch, under "U" for "User". if you want to have a link to those different forms of architecture that you've posted as categories on your page, you can instead put them as links within the body of your page. i'm editing/cleaning up categories for articles, but i'm not touching users' pages. instead i'm writing them and asking them to make the changes for me, out of courtesy. do you suppose you can comply? i dont know if there's any policy against what you're doing (maybe there is?), but it just looks silly to me. let me know what you think. ill come back to see your reply, and let you know what i found out about those policies. Ivansevil 03:29, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

since u speak spanish and english, and are into architecture. i was wondering if you could help me out with a few things dealing with both. i have asked several members of WikiProject:Architecture (both in english and spanish) for help, and no one has replied. i have a long list of questions, and if u have time, could u help me translate some things from spanish into english? i can post them here if u say its ok. Motto of the day

edit

Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.

When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.

If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 02:49, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Template:Country data African Union

edit

Hi,
I had to delete {{Country data African Union}} again since, just as it said in the deletion log that must have shown when you created the image, it's impossible to use the two non-free images File:Flag of the African Union 2010.svg and File:Flag of the African Union.svg in a template like this, per policy.
Amalthea 16:46, 21 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please familiarize yourself with the policy on non-free images: A flag template showing a non-free flag may not be built because indiscriminate use of that flag image violates this policy. You can't bypass that by using the image directly, like you did on Legal status of Western Sahara, I'm afraid. Amalthea 19:29, 21 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your tactful warning about the non-free image. I understand now I see the "Non-free media use rationale" tagging in the image. Thanks for your patience and good job.   Sobreira (parlez) 08:51, 23 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Of course. And this is a rather unfortunate situation, but the African Union isn't alone there: the ASEAN flags are likewise copyrighted, and can only be used under a claim of fair use, with the restrictions that come with it.
Cheers, Amalthea 09:24, 23 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

The article Irina Viner has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

edit

First of all, thanks for all the time you have put into expanding this article. I do have a complaint, however. Some of the material seems a little superfluous or even redundant. I know it is still a work in progress, but can you please make sure that everything you add truly contributes to the quality of the article? Again, I'm grateful for what you have done. I apologize for not getting back to you in time. Unexpected events extended my absence from Wikipedia.

I'll try to answer your inquiries to the best of my knowledge, though as I previously told you, Libyan is not my native dialect; therefore, I will only provide you my opinion on the ones I might know, and please don't regard my answers error-free.

The ones in bold are which I reckon correct.

1 الجفارة 'al-jifaaraº 'al-jafaaraº vowel of first syllable after article (or none?) Al Jfara
2 النقاط الخمس 'al-nuqaat. 'al-Hams 'al-niqaat. 'al-Hams vowel of first syllable after article An Nuqat al Khams
3 سرت sirt surt vowel of first syllable Surt
4 ترهونة و مسلاته msalaataº masallaataº vowel of first syllable (of third word) Tarhuna Wa Msalata
5 المرقب 'al-murqub 'al-marqab vowel of first and second syllables Al Murgub
6 مرزق murSuq marSuq / murSaq vowel of first and second syllables Murzuq
7 يفرن yafran yifrin vowel of first and second syllables Yafran
8 غريان Rarii'aan Rarii'aan / Rariyaan / Raryaan vowels of second and third syllables Gharyan
9 سوفاجين‎ sawfaajjiin sawfajjiin length of vowel for consonant "f" Sawfajjin
10 زلتان‎ Slitan Slitaan length of vowel for consonant "t" Zlitan
11 القبة 'al-qubaº 'al-qubbaº gemination (shadda) of "b" or not? Al Qubah
12 الواحات 'al-waaKhaaº 'al-waaKhaat last consonant: h, t or ta marbutah? Al Wahat
13 مرادة marad maradah structure of third syllable: ta marbutah? Maradah
14 مصراتة mis.(u)raatah mus.(u)raatah vowel of first syllable after article and last consonant: h, t or ta marbutah? Misratah

I laud the work you're doing. It's great to see so energetic a person on Wikipedia. I hope my response will be helpful, and again, I'm sorry for the very late answer. Good luck in your pursuits! Ahmediq152 (talk) 00:27, 4 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:43, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Titular diocese of Dora

edit
  • Mea culpa. It was my mistake and I corrected it. I, in general do not create articles about titular sees, because they are not important, but this one particularity is different. This titular see was reserved for the territorial prelates of Ciudad Real.So their full title would be for example: Juan Hervás y Benet, Titular bishop of Dora and Prelate of Ciudad Real, Grand Master and Prior of the Orders of Santiago, Alcántara, Calatrava and Montesa.

You have to read the article about the Titular see to understand that connection.

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Wikipedia books

edit

Hi Sobreira. I see you've created several Wikipedia books that have been placed in Category:Wikipedia books on language. Afaics these are well-constructed books so they could be "promoted" into community books - i.e. moved into the Book namespace. This could mean that other editors might be more likely to make improvements to them. If you don't wish your books to be moved in this way then we could copy your books to pages in Book namespace. For info having user pages in book-by-topic categories (which are under Category:Articles) is an anomaly in categorization that I'm looking into. DexDor (talk) 07:23, 3 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Sobreira, frequently foreign names in British accounts, especially accounts from the mid-19th century back, are at best an approximation to the correct, local name. I don't know if that is the case with Ciutadella, but I generally try to use the name as I found it in the documentary sources, and link to the correct name. That way, someone doing some googling can find the sources. Regards, Acad Ronin (talk) 00:03, 12 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

The article Команда 2018 has been proposed for deletion because it lacks notability as per WP:NSONG. The only article that mentions the song's artists shows that Команда 2018 was only slightly associated with the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and not at all associated with the 2018 FIFA World Cup. For the same reason, related edits that you performed on other pages have been reverted.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary, on the article's talk page or below.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- SLV100 (talk) 20:59, 26 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Sobreira. Your recent additions to Expletive (disambiguation) were contrary to the Manual of Style specifications for disambiguation pages.
