my talk page

Bobblehead removed Dexmar's comment because it is apparent that Dexmar is another sock of the banned user Dereks1x. I agree with Bobblehead's assessment, having dealt with these 25+ socks for months, and expect this one will be banned as well. Tvoz |talk 05:53, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

I realized something was up with that just now actually...my apologies. Jmlk17 05:55, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
No problem - sooner or later he'll get bored. Tvoz |talk 06:01, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

The warning info on WP:UAA/Bot

I felt that the note on the "bots" section of WP:UAA was a good resolution to the discussion, and User:Until(1 == 2) -- the primary person who had been disagreeing with me -- even agreed on my talk page that it was reasonable. What made you revert it? rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 06:14, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Which part? About what to do if/when the username isn't blatant, etc.? Jmlk17 06:17, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes, that. It took us a lot of discussion to get there. rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 06:45, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
In my opinion, it seems quite redundant to the information in the box above. I mean, the only issue with Bot-reported names is that they are prone to false-positives much more often. The warning just seemed to be a bit longer than necessary, and I mean, why say what to do it it's debatable, when it is already mentioned above? Jmlk17 06:49, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
If there needs to be a resolution, or if there is a disagreement, I'm not going to put my foot down or anything, but I would like to be involved :). Jmlk17 07:18, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
The reason is that it's different from what's mentioned above. Debatable usernames and non-blatant violations shouldn't be in the user-reported part of WP:UAA, because the user should take some other action such as reporting it to WP:RFCN, or encouraging the user to change their username with {{UsernameConcern}}. But bots can't tell the difference, so you'll find all sorts of names in the bot's section.
Some admins have been treating bot-reported names as if they're either erroneously reported or need to be blocked right away, like user-reported names, and have not been considering that there are cases in between. So newbies who could have been warned, because their username is bad but not blatant, get blocked instead.
The resolution was to at least point out, in the bot section, that such cases are possible. rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 08:13, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Very understandable. I leave it to you guys :). Jmlk17 21:32, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

I take it from your short and piffy comment you either do not know the role and function of a chamber of commerce and convention & visitors bureau...or you simply do not care. Perhaps both. If you visited the the Lake Norman town's websites (Cornelius, Davidson, & Huntersville)you would note the two organizations links are cited. As a matter of fact in the Huntersville Wikipedia listing of Huntersville they are already posted. I am going to repost the listings. Before you arbitrarily delete them again, you should at least visit the sites referenced or inform me of what procedure you wish me to use to get this done...or advise me of the Wikipedia editor(s) who has jurisdiction over your decisions. Thank you.

comment from User:Usjaycee1 -

This is in response to your comment to usjaycee1 removing the link on the Cornelius NC site. The external link added were both the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce and the Visit Lake Norman organization which are the two non-profit organzations charged with promoting the town. If you go to the town's own website you would see that it uses both those links. I would appreciate both links being added back. Our Chamber and the sister organization Visit lake Norman promotes the communities of Davidson, Cornelius, Huntersville, and Mooresville NC. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Usjaycee1 (talkcontribs)

Promoting the town(s) eh? Jmlk17 04:44, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

I noted from your piffy comment back that you either do not know the role of a chamber of commerce and convention & visitors bureau or you simply do not care. Perhaps both. If you visited the Lake Towns of Cornelius, Davidson & Huntersville websites you would note the two organizations are listed. On the Wikipedia listing of Huntersville, the two organizations already have links. I will repost the listings. Before you arbitrarily delete them again, please visit the links you have dismissed or provide me with the procedures you wish me to follow to have them posted or provide me with the Wikipedia editor(s) who has jurisdiction over your decisions. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.147.144.138 (talkcontribs)

Hmmm...I must say I have never heard that word, piffy, before. Perhaps it is a cultural or language issue. As for knowing what I chamber of commerce is/does, I'm not going to comment. I am smart enough to know what their role in a town/city is. I just fail to see why a tourism-boosting site, especially one that isn't even cited except as an external link does exactly. Sneaky as hell eh? I was actually on my way to bed as well (all late here, right), and just happened to swing back online for a second. Hello right back atcha, sleep well, and hope to talk to you soon! Jmlk17 06:38, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Hockey withdrawls?!

Do you not sleep like me?   Wish I'd known you were awake, I would have just asked you to do the thing I needed done *grin*. ArielGold 07:08, 11 August 2007 (UTC) P.S. Hockey, Schmokey! NASCAR!

Heh, I'm actually not feeling too great right now. My gut is killing me, and I can't sleep, so I am laying here with my laptop and some tea. Oh, and the vandals are entertaining as well. ...NASCAR? Nonono Ariel... hockey ;). Jmlk17 07:10, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
Feel better!
Feel better!
Well, I've never seen a Hockey game, so I guess I can't really say, but it looks so boring! (Yeah I know I know, as opposed to a bunch of guys driving around and around and around and around... lol). I'm sowwy you don't feel good. I'd make you a cup of tea, but you have one! Well, heck, never can have too much tea! Have another cuppa! I hope you feel better. I hope it isn't like, the flu or something icky like that. I can't sleep either, but it is because my body has no clue what the heck a circadian rhythm is.   ~*Hugs*~ ArielGold 07:18, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
Aw thanks :). I am far too obsessed with the Avalanche here. Never really gotten into Nascar, but my dad seems to enjoy it somewhat. My tea is actually going cold, as I just feel too damn bad right now, but thank ya! God, it sure as hell better not be the flu...probably just something funky I ate, coupled with the stress of getting grad school put together at the last second. Good times, good times. But I think I am actually going to pop offline for a bit, and see if I can't catch some Z's. Not too comfortable at the moment though; I have pretty much everything I own at my new place at school, but got screwed with a last-minute schedule at work, so I am crashing on the parent's couch all damn week... and I'm too tall for this damn thing lol. But thanks for the well-wishes. Get some sleep Ariel! I hope to talk to you soon :). Jmlk17 07:24, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

I hope you feel better soon! No, sooner than that! ArielGold 07:28, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

It's the next morning...well, afternoon. But I feel much better! Must have been that extra cup of tea you gave me :). Thanks! Jmlk17 19:21, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
I'm so glad to hear it! I was a little concerned, and was going to check in with you later, but I'm so happy to hear you're much improved! YAY! You can't be sick on a weekend, that's just... well it is just wrong! Hee hee.   ArielGold 19:33, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
Eh, I actually have to go to work at 4, and stay til almost midnight tonight :(. But I just got myself a nice little raise, so I mean hey...can't be all that upset about working! Oh, and I love the little smiley faces and little icons that you add on talk pages... they actually are making me smile! Jmlk17 19:35, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Smileys are awesome! How else can one express their "inflection" with nothing but text?   Granted, I've been called "annoyingly happy", and most recently "almost illegally cute", (LOL I love it) but I really do feel that words alone, can so often be misunderstood, or a "tone" can be heard where one was not intended, and all of this can be completely wiped away with the addition of one tiny little picture, that tells the user's mood or intention. Plus, they're pretty! (I know, I know, too girlie for Wikipedia, so sue me!)   As for your raise, YAY! As for having to work on a weekend, BOOOOO! hee hee hee hee...ArielGold 20:05, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I don't mind working I suppose, especially as I am heading back to school, transfering jobs, and this is my last shift. But man...it's Saturday night tonight :(. And I had plans to...uhm...plans to...well. I had plans to pack, yeah! As for be ""annoyingly happy" & "illegally cute"...that's just awesome in it's own right. I've been called far too nice on here, something I am not sure reflects well when I do get heated about something here. Heh, I just re-read the "too girlie" comment above. Pure awesome! Not too many girls around here are the smiley face and little picture icon type...very refreshing :). Oh, and my dad is watching NASCAR in the kitchen right now, and seems quite upset by something that is happening...not sure what it is though. How's the wonderful humidity on this gloriously roasting August day? Jmlk17 20:19, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
Hee hee, my AC is on overdrive. I have a window that faces... uh, the direction the sun sets, I guess, (Where are my mountains! I can't figure out which way is north in this hellhole! Ahhh) and it gets just broiling in here on summer sunny days after 2pm. Yeah your dad is watching the Busch race, they're on a road track today, so they're a bit more exciting, to be sure. I'm mostly watching the spacewalk, I have the sound off on the race, so I am not sure what he's upset about lol. Well, don't you have too much fun at work tonight and, the "packing" can wait. A bit of unsolicited advice for you, my dear: Focus on the goal. SCHOOL is all that matters until you get that graduate degree. "Packing" can be done later, trust me!   Drop me a line when you get home if you're around. ArielGold 20:36, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
Good advice though, thank ya! Uhm, the window is facing west...rises in the east, sets in the west. I must run however, and get ready for the working thing. Hope all's well in the boiling heat of <insert state name or wherever here>! Talk to you later Ariel. Jmlk17 20:43, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

original research?

Hi. Its been a while since you adopted me and I've finally got something I need your help with. I found an article I want to improve (this article Negima!) and it says it contains "original research". Even after reading the page on this I still just don't get it. How do I spot it? And is all of it bad? I could really use your help with this one. Thanks (Urrgh5591 10:46, 11 August 2007 (UTC))

Hey buddy. I was wondering when you were actually going to need help :). Glad you asked! In response to your question, I took a look at the page, and in particular, the talk page where a fellow editor expressed concerns. The issue is that there are quite a few details about the subject, especially ones that could almost certainly only be included with original research. My best advice would be cut down the section a bit, removing the little things such as what a character is feeling, how they emote, etc. Then find sources (through google, BBS, chat boards, etc), and stick those suckers on in :). I hope this helps even a little bit, but if not, please do not hesitate to let me know, and then we can figure out exactly what we can do to figure it all out! Jmlk17 19:28, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
Thank you! Seriously I wouldn't have seen that easily myself. But now I understand. And don't worry working to improve this article and what goes with it will be my first real project so expect some more questions soon. And thanks again (Urrgh5591 19:53, 11 August 2007 (UTC))
No problem at all buddy. Good luck, and hope to hear from you soon. Jmlk17 20:40, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Username block of "Deekshit"

Hi! I noticed that you blocked the user Deekshit (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) for an inappropriate username. I just wanted to let you know that "Deekshit" is a common Indian surname, as seen by this Google search]. Actually, many Indian surnames contain the string "shit", so it might be a good idea to Google them if you're unsure. Cheers, Gandoman 23:01, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

You don't seem to be around, J, so I've unblocked this account, hope you don't mind! Deekshit is indeed an Indian name. Cheers, ~ Riana 03:00, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
The funny thing is, I actually realized that I had made a mistake when I was at work, and came across a Rishi Deekshit lol. But thank you for the save :). Jmlk17 05:26, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Ooh ooh ooohhh you're home!

Ariel does the Happy Happy Joy Joy dance!

Look what I've been doing all night:

Current version
Revision when I started
Comparison of my expansion

AND I submitted it to DYK:

Did you know...that a total time of 551 hours and one minute has been spent assembling the International Space Station?

I suppose it is a bit wrong to self-nominate, but the shuttle is up there working on ISS right now, and it seemed to be completely appropriate. I'll cry if they don't choose it!

So how was work? You tired or are you staying up for a while? ArielGold

Lol, that's a helluva job! I must say I have never had anything pass DYK...well, I've never submitted anything :). That's the reason why, I'm sure. Great job though! As for staying up, I will probably be up for quite some time, seeing as how I slept til 11am-ish today, plus had a Rockstar about an hour ago at work. AND I have laundry and such to do. PLUS, I've been at my parent's house all week, so they're taking advantage of my height to change lightbulbs and do all kinds of crap lol. But yes... I shall be up for some time, sporadically away from my computer however.. How about you? How's your night going? Jmlk17 05:42, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

My back is killing me!
LOL Okay, I don't have a clue what a "rockstar" is, except to get this icky image of Gene Simmons sticking his tongue out of his nasty painted face... I did MY laundry earlier, and I'm letting my featherbed get all "flooofy", so I still have to put the featherbed cover back on, and the duvet cover back on and make the bed, but nowhere near bed time for me yet, so eh... why do now what you can do at the last possible minute, right?   Go vote on my DYK! (Or are there only specific people who vote on them/select them?) lol, just kidding that'd probably be a COI anyway since I told you about it. Man, must be nice to be tall. I'm short :( Well, I'm like 5'5", 5'4", depends on if I've spent the night hunched over my desk typing furiously like tonight, lol. But I can't even reach the top shelf of my cupboards, lol. Of course, my cupboards are all pretty much empty, so that's not such an issue, but still...

Lol...no, not Gene Simmons... a Rockstar!!! They're pretty good actually. I wouldn't normally drink one at night, but a co-worker bought it for me, so I did. Nice choice on the featherbed stuff! I love a big ol' poofy bedspread with a soft duvet cover, especially when it's freezing cold out! But I'm stuck on this damn L-shaped couch for one more night at the parent's house :(. But hey, it happens; at least they're warm and inviting when I come home :). Lol 5'5 isn't that short! I'm 7'1. Not really though. More like 6'11. Crap, still lying. I'm actually 6'1...well, 6'1 on a a good morning, after laying flat all night and not being hunched over a desk! But I hit the 6 foot mark at least! My mom loves it: always has me grabbing stuff off the top shelfs at the grocery store, or changing the light bulbs at the house, or something of that sort. As for cupboards being empty...mine are bare! Hopefully that will change in a couple days with the ever-so-awesome payday. But until then, the life of a poor college student lives on through me :). Jmlk17 06:07, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Ahh, I've never had any of those "energy" drinks, I don't think my heart needs it! lol. When do you leave for school (which one, btw) and are you going to have internet there? When I was in college, there was no such thing as an internet, LMAO. I got my first computer in 1989, when they were a "novel" thing, it cost me 4,000 dollars, was the top of the line, and had a WHOPPING fast 10mhz processor! ZOooooommmm! lol. I need to upgrade mine actually (I usually upgrade every 2-3 years, its been 2) but I have soo much stuff on here that it would be a royal pain to do that, and, well, look up procrastinate, and it'll have my picture!   Hee hee hee. ArielGold 06:13, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
Energy drinks are alright I suppose. I'm not one of those people who freak out without caffeine...usually :). I leave for school tomorrow (technically today), at CSU up on Fort Collins. I should have internet at my new place; I know they have it at the school, but I prefer to surf online from the comforts on my own laptop and home. 1989 eh? I was all of 6 years old back then. Just a lil guy. We got our first computer back in...uhm...1993 I believe. Well, my dad had this old piece of crap IBM from the early 80's, complete with a green screen and all that fancy stuff. My laptop now is about 2 1/2 years old, but it's pretty decent still. It gets the job done at least! Oops, be right back...laundry just buzzed at me. Jmlk17 06:26, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Showoff! Telling me it is Portugese! PFFFT on you!   lol. I feel bad for the guy, I mean, if you look back, I gave him a custom welcome, informed him about the length, and then I sat back for several days watching him make a mess of things (and cleaning some of them up), but finally I just felt someone needed to find out what his story was, if he even spoke English or not. And then User:L basically calls me stupid for thinking he'd speak Spanish, I mean like I said, jeez, most people from Portugal can read/write Spanish, and the languages are very very similar, so how would I know? He/She didn't need to be so mean to me :(

Now Ariel is sad.   (Yes, yes I know, I'm too sensitive/emotional, whatever, lol.)

Okay so why are you going up there so dang early? School isn't starting for what, at least another few weeks, right? Well, when I went to school it started after Labor Day, so, this is kinda early, yes? So what are you studying? (I suppose I could nose around your user page to find out, but hey, I'm lazy.) And are you working at the same time? Questions! I'm nosy, huh? Hey! Would you make me a Doppleganger account pretty please? Ariel Gold (with the space) to keep meanie-poo-heads from pretending to be me (not that anyone would want to do that, but eh...) Email me and I'll send you my email address, I don't wanna put it here. ArielGold 06:46, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Alright...I created the account for ya. I sent you an email; just email me back, and I'll send you the password. Don't forget to put that {{doppelganger}} template up as well! And no editing from it :). Otherwise, hope that keeps the vandals away. And I just sorta want to get up there. All my friends are up at school (well, the town). I'm studying me some history...I know a lot of people hate it, but I can't get enough. I love to read, so it's a great match. That's actually how I found Wikipedia as a matter of fact. I'll be working as well...but not too much hopefully. As for the Portuguese thing, I just sort of have a thing for languages. I speak fluent English (obviously), can read and write pretty good German, and can sorta get my head around some Spanish. But for some reason, I can look at a sentence, and almost always know what language it is, even if I can't read it. Don't let L get to you. Might just be a bad night for them ya know? You went the nicest route possible, but we shall see what comes out of it. Jmlk17 07:04, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

New section! Ariel hates to scroll

Told you I'm lazy. :p I emailed you back. No real rush, I just got to thinking after my page got targeted a couple days ago, and I thought it would be pretty easy for someone to mess with me, so better to save that name. I was thinking about having a bureaucrat transfer my name to the one with the space, but then I thought of the entire 4000+ edits I'd made, and they'd all have this account, so eh. I'm lazy. History is okay, what do you plan on doing with your degree? Teaching? What area of History are you specializing in? I personally LOVE Ancient Egypt, Sumeria, Greece, that stuff just fascinates me to no end. The art, the intricacies of the language, just blows me away. You should minor in linguistics, seriously, consider it if you haven't already. Not one specific language, but the history of languages, it is fascinating too. Oh, if only I had it all to do over again... lol. So how far do your folks live from Ft. Collins? Like, can you go visit them and stuff? (Oh and if you don't want all this splashed on your talk page, feel free to just email me, or refuse to answer. :p ) ArielGold 07:11, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Lol, I think I'm going to switch to email actually. I've been targeted myself several times, and would prefer to not let some of my more personal stuff out. Expect email soon :) Jmlk17 07:14, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Okay, I've gotten everything off my plate so we can start when you're ready. I've gotten Cirque du Soleil moved out of my sandbox and into the actual article space. I'm still working on it, but it's mostly just little stuff at this point. It's not something that's going to be continuing to screw with me during the RfA. Trusilver 03:38, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Trusilver's RfA

Check out User:AGK/Sandbox - I've taken the liberty of doing this, as Trusilver is long overdue one :) feel free to contribute. I've left the "top-spot" nomination for yourself, although I'm treating as one big co-nomination, rather than a single, main nomination and a few others. Hope this is satisfactory ~ Anthøny 20:30, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Much obliged. I left my little piece on the page, though I fear I am not as good with nomination words as you and Riana...this is my first. If you could, can you comment (if necessary) on my words, and give me any advice on how/if I could make it better? Jmlk17 04:42, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Wow, thank you! :) Love, Neranei (talk) 19:21, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Out of curiosity, what brought that on? Neranei (talk) 19:22, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
The hockey withdrawals? Jmlk17 19:23, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
That, and the award. Thanks, Neranei (talk) 19:27, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Lol, the hockey withdrawals because I am overly-insane about ice hockey, and it's still the offseason. Making me go a little nuts :). As for the award, I just wanted to show a bit of appreciation for making that userbox. I'm not very good at them, and I appreciate it :). Jmlk17 19:29, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Ah, I see. :) Thank you! I am willing to make userboxes if you want any others; and I hope that you can somehow satisfy your hockey cravings. :) Neranei (talk) 19:31, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Me too! Thanks again! Jmlk17 19:33, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

You're welcome, and thank you!Neranei (talk) 19:34, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Hurry up!

Hurry up and get unpacked, so I can bug you!

P.S. I hope your moving trip is going well and calmly.  ArielGold 13:01, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Lol, all done! Went fine and dandy actually...one of the smoothest moves I have had yet. Jmlk17 21:31, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Woo hoo you're up and running! I can bug you again!   Glad everything went well! ArielGold 22:05, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Very much so, but I am seeing my schedule coming up...busy as hell!!! Jmlk17 22:07, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Military history WikiProject coordinator election

The Military history WikiProject coordinator election has begun. We will be selecting nine coordinators from a pool of fourteen candidates to serve for the next six months. Please vote here by August 28! Wandalstouring 08:32, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

YAY you're back!

Saw your block log, lol. Were you tired of me filling up the one user's page with notices?   And ... HI! Did ya miss me? Huh Huh? Are you all settled in, comfy-like? Hee hee. ArielGold 23:28, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Lol, yeah, I figured a good ol' fashioned block was in order. I'm actually all squared away, just hanging out. I have a basement room, which means it's actually nice and decently cool right now...even without A/C. How's things with you? Jmlk17 23:30, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
Uh huh... but I hope you have some long johns, cause in the winter that's going to be B-r-r-r-rrrr cold! I'm doing okay, I suppose. Just another day! Now, you must be sure that your schedule has "WikiTime" pre-planned into it, because not having time for us is simply not acceptable, got it?   Hee hee hee. ArielGold 23:39, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
Lol, the life of a history major: read, write, research, class, research, write, read, sleep, write, read, research. So basically, I'm online a lot at times lol. And as for the winter, I have myself a heated mattress pad, backed up with a space heater, so I can stay pretty toasty around here! :) Jmlk17 23:42, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Spoken like a former boy scout! LOL ArielGold 23:56, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Was only one for a few years though :). Jmlk17 00:02, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Well, hey isn't learning how to stay warm one of the "basics"? lol. I was a Girl Scout for a number of years (and I think a bluebird too) but my memory is not what it once was, sad to say, lol. The heated mattress pad sounds nice, I just sleep on a heating pad in winter, lol. ArielGold 00:09, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Bah, Girl Scouts ;). BlueBird as well eh? Well, that's what happens when ya get old ;). Jmlk17 00:18, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

If I remember right, "Bluebirds" were (are?) the pre-cursor to Girl Scouts. Kind of like Girl Scout Kindergarten, lol. ArielGold 00:22, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Something like that. I never went that particular route ;). Jmlk17 00:23, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Abd Halim Mahmud

I restored the article. You deleted it citing G4, yet the reason it was originally deleted was because it was a copyvio. I deleted it and then recreated it, as the person seemed notable, yet don't have time to write anything on him at the moment. Pepsidrinka 02:54, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Sounds good...thanks for the heads up :). Jmlk17 06:25, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

On patrol

Heh, heh, that's a first for me! Never had anything like that until then! :) Acalamari 15:37, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Good times :). Jmlk17 21:56, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

LOZ: OOT

Hey, Jmlk. I know this user is already blocked, but he just swore that he'd return again and again and again. That aside, he also left me a death threat: it's in a hidden comment, so you won't be able to see it: "I'll find you. I'll go to L.A., and I'll find you. Illl find you, and then I'll kill you." ([1]). Is there anything that can be done about this any more than what already has? Ksy92003(talk) 23:17, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Damn dude...have you reported that at WP:ANI? Jmlk17 00:43, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Would that do anything if he's already indefinitely blocked? I also found out that one of Cornell66's suspected sockpuppets was trolling me a couple months ago. I'm trying to figure out why he doesn't like me; this has unfortunately been something that's lasted more than 2 months. I suspect that there's another sock out there who's gotten into disputes with me, but I can't think of anybody who could be a sock. Ksy92003(talk) 01:43, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure actually. It seems this guy has a lot of sockpuppets and is trolling around the site quite a bit. I'm still a relatively new admin, and am not sure how the inner workings of truly banning man and getting him out of here go about...I'm sorry. Jmlk17 02:17, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Thank you for the barnstar. Keep on blocking those vandals. Happy editing! :) --Hdt83 Chat 01:02, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks... I try! :) Jmlk17 01:04, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Thank you.

I apologise for being anon (work computer, large corp) but appreciate action taken on User:172.163.201.179. I am in reality User:UnseemlyWeasel. —The preceding signed but undated comment was added at 22:47:47, August 19, 2007 (UTC).

Help, please

Hi. I hate to be a nuisance, but could you please look into the user User:Kling_Zeal? It's pretty clear that it's a sockpuppet created to harrass me, and I'm almost certain that the puppeteer is User:Electric Sheep87, which might be a sockpuppet itself. It seems that you're an admin or something, so I thought I'd come to you about it. If you aren't, could you please tell me how to have the matter resolved? King Zeal 23:33, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Try reporting the matter at WP:SSP, and we can get it resolved ASAP. Jmlk17 05:57, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Done. I created the page here. Thanks again for the help! King Zeal 12:38, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Hope that helps! :) Jmlk17 21:45, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Blah, can I pawn something off onto you?

Michael J. partsch, created by an obvious COI editor, User:Partsch, I initially questioned the notability, and the tone (reads like an ad/resume) but gave good faith, and instead placed tags. I let the user know my COI concerns, and now another brand new user of a different name is removing the tags repeatedly, removing wiki formatting (removing all headers, removing ref section, adding naked URLs into article space, etc.) despite my reverting and notices. I'm sick of it. Can you look it over, and tell me if it should just be Speedied? Honestly Google finds zilch in Reliable sources about this guy that is notable, he's just an academic like millions of other people. Bail me out? lol. ArielGold 07:46, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

I don't really think the person is being intentionally disruptive, it is more an issue of not reading and learning at the very least, simple basics. But I'm also highly suspicious that it is the same user as the creator of the article, as the writing style is the same, and the formatting and things such as that. I could be wrong, naturally, but it would make sense. I mean, I feel bad for warning them, but I'm already thinking the article is basically not notable, and they're making it look worse, and read more like a resume/ad, than it was already, lol. ArielGold 07:54, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
It happens...I don't want to bite them either though. Plus, laptop is about to die. Jmlk17 07:55, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
LOL hrmm, was it that apparent? Was I just being too WP:AGF-y? I mean, I try not to just slap speedy tags, but I have been sitting on that article since last night, and really didn't become convinced it was improving or worth having. Am I too naiive? lol. ArielGold 07:56, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
P.S. why don't you have a power cord for your laptop, ya goofball! ArielGold 07:57, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Naw, you're all good with that article... no worries. And I do have a power cord; just out in my car, and I'm not going to leave and go all the way out there just for that ;). Jmlk17 08:03, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

ROFL and I thought that I was lazy! Sheeeeesh! Get up off your couch/bed/chair/beanbag and go get your silly powercord before you lose Wiki-connection! I know darn well it isn't cold there.   ArielGold 08:05, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Lol, that and a little out of it from a 21st birthday party for a friend at the bars. Might call it a night :). Jmlk17 08:06, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Ahhh now the truth comes out! LOL. Well dear, as always, the enjoyment has been mine, getting to chat with you, about things Wiki and things not Wiki. You sleep well, when you do, and don't be a stranger, y'hear! (Y'all come back now, y'hear!?)   ArielGold 08:20, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Frank Gasperik deleted

On June 16th, you deleted Frank Gasperik. I can't find anything in the AFD logs around that time, I'd like to take a look at the discussion of and reasons for the deletion. Where should I look? — PhilHibbs | talk 11:45, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

It wasn't an Afd, rather, a speedy delete. Jmlk17 21:45, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

There are a number of participants on the Larry Niven discussion list who think Frank Gasperik is a prominent enough person to deserve a Wikipedia article. In addition to being a popular guitarist and filksong singer, he was instrumental in getting the H. Beam Piper books reprinted. Most of us on the LN list are not familiar with the Wikipedia criteria for deletion, and your rather cryptic answer has us baffled. We would appreciate it if you'd explain. If it's necessary to revamp or re-word the article, then this is something we'd be glad to talk about.--Lensman003 06:16, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Would you like me to undelete the article, to let you work on it at least? :) Jmlk17 07:14, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes please - it's even possible that the "copyright" material was even put here by the copyright holder in addition to wherever else it was first published. — PhilHibbs | talk 08:27, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Done. I restored the page to its revision directly before my deletion. Good luck! Jmlk17 08:30, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks a lot. Looks like there is a quoted paragraph written in the first person, I'll try and track down the copyright holder. Should I remove the paragraph until that is done? — PhilHibbs | talk 08:44, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
No problem...here to help. I would actually remove it, then work it in as a sourced item when you can. Jmlk17 08:45, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Relief effort info

I haven't added anything about the relief effort. I removed it and have been doing vandal watching. Cheers ---CWY2190TC 00:12, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Who me? ~*Innocent Look*~ Nahhh, actually I've been dinking around, mostly so far since I woke up, lol. What are you up to, Hmm? ArielGold 08:54, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Bored. All the roommates went to bed, and I can't sleep. :( Jmlk17 08:58, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Awwww... Sheesh, how many roommates do you have? "All of them" went to sleep? LOL. God, I had one roommate in college, for only one semester (that's all I could stand her for) and that was it, never again! lol. ArielGold 09:04, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
God, I have had at least a dozen different roommates in a half dozen different places and locations. I have three right now; once had a total of 11, but that's a whole 'nother story! At least I don't have class until 2 tomorrow afternoon! :) Jmlk17 09:06, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Man, I can't imagine trying to live with that many people! Ack! I like my "space" too much lol. ArielGold 09:19, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Naw, it's all good. I like being around people, but I have my own little cave of a room that I can go and be alone in when necessary or when I want. I like it! Jmlk17 09:21, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Well that's what's important! Now go get some sleep ya goof! (I can't believe your classes start so early! What happened to not starting school until after Labor Day? ArielGold 09:29, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Man, beat me! Nighto! Jmlk17 09:37, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

You're up late again!

And so am I lol. I've been awake for um... (counting...) 26 hours now, and I'm still not tired, lol. If I drop off the face of WP for 20 hours you know I'm sleeping off my insomnia, lmao. ArielGold 07:32, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Late as always. I'm a night person, not a morning person. Just saw a funny movie with a bunch of friends, and had a good night. Why can't you sleep? Jmlk17 07:33, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Hrmm, dunno. My body has no circadian rhythms, lol. I'll stay awake for 30+ hours, sleep for 12, stay awake for 6, sleep for 3, I just sleep when I'm tired, lol. You know, they say that Leonardo DaVinci would take little 20 minute naps all throughout the day and night, so he didn't lose his creative flow by sleeping, lol. Not sure if its true or not. ArielGold 07:38, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Heard something like that before actually. I have an alright sleep pattern, but I just do my best work and studying and such after dark. Jmlk17 07:39, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm a night person too, but inevitably, I cycle around every few weeks, sleep days for a while, then have one of these days/nights when I can't sleep, so it cycles me around to the opposite. lol. So how are classes going? Having fun? Or is it getting old already? lol ArielGold 07:41, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

School is alright. School will always be school! Hate it when it is going, miss it when it's on break. Classes seem to be alright (only the first week), but we shall see eventually! How is your stuff going? :) Jmlk17 07:44, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Hrmm, I dunno. I think my brain turned off about a half hour ago, lol. My stuff, well the shuttle landed, so I'm bored again for 61 more days, assuming next launch date isn't pushed back.   Other than that, let's see, US Open starts in a few days, that'll be good, that will fill up almost two weeks! So yay! Hee hee hee ArielGold 07:51, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
I've been slacking big time on article improvement and such since about the first week of June (ironically both when I become an admin, as well as when hockey season ended)! I have just been using the ol' mop and bucket lately, but hey, someone's gotta do it! 176 things on my watchlist, and not one thing to edit! lol. Jmlk17 07:54, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

I can relate to that, lol. I originally used my watchpage as a way to bookmark sites I wanted to refer to, but man did that get out of hand! Look at all the sites I had by going to the bookmarks link on my page, lol. Now the things I have watchlisted are things I want to keep an eye on, recent multiple reverts, users who are persistent, etc., but it is still way out of hand again, I hate scrolling! lol. ArielGold 07:57, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Hey, take a peek at User_talk:Tonypaterson1951 this please? Are blatant advertisings allowed on talk pages? ArielGold 08:00, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
No they isn't!...thanks for the heads up! :) Jmlk17 08:03, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Yeah sorta a grey area, I mean, policy says that we can basically have whatever we want on our talk pages, but eh... lol. Thanks for taking care of it, m'dear. ArielGold 08:07, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Of course...always a pleasure. Jmlk17 08:11, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Delta Sigma Pi Page

Hi. I'm sure you've noted that I've been edited the DSP page of late. I'm also interested in seeing that it is removed from the list of "unsourced" pages, as I feel that it now quotes sources for most if not all of the facts presented. While I *could* simply remove the "Unreferenced" template, that somehow doesn't seem like the right thing to do. Help me learn what the deal is with those so I can feel more comfortable working on this page in the future? Thanks. -- MikeVitale 18:09, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Looks good! Tag removed, and great job! :) Jmlk17 07:12, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Edit Revert

This is ip address 220.240.53.40, I must have forgotten to log in I deleted the proposal for Robot Wars WP because I realised that it was not going anywhere, as it had been up for about 6 months and the only comment I had gotten was telling me to make a taskforce. It was my edit at first, my proposal, and therefore I have the right to remove it. If you like, you can keep the reverted edit there, but please remove my name off interested wikipedians :P Ka5hmirTalk To Me! 21:54, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

IP user

I see you helping me out. could you do something about this? He's also trying to defame me on my yet untouched editor review, and I don't think I've done anything wrong. DurinsBane87 08:41, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

I'm checking it out right now :). Jmlk17 08:42, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Thank you, I appreciate it. DurinsBane87 08:44, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanking You very much

I thank you for firstly, giving me a patient hearing, and dealing with the issue logically. However, due a minor mistake, you forgot to unblock my IP address, due to which I couldn't thank you earlier. The needful has been done, thanks to User:Netsnipe.

Plz. do give a thought to how I can deal with admins who seem to deliberately target me. --AltruismT a l k - Contribs. 11:58, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

That was my bad. I should have unblocked your IP address when I unblocked your username. As for the issue(s) with certain admins, I would try to talk to them first off. If it somehow does need to go beyond that, there are ways to bring actions to the attention of others. Jmlk17 20:27, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

My RfA

Hey Jmlk. I just wanted to thank you for all the trouble you have gone to for coaching me and helping organize my RfA. My only hope is that I can find someone else who is about ready for adminship and give them the same favor. It's great working with you and I'm looking forward to more of it in the future. P.S. - you should stop by the IRC channels from time to time, you get to see a whole other side to Riana which is both amusing and terrifying at the same time. :) Trusilver 16:12, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Thank you! Congrats on the new tools, and I plan on seeing you around here for some time to come :). As for IRC... I might give it a try sometime. I haven't really used that other than downloading stuff in YEARS! :) Jmlk17 14:20, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

Small world

I'm having a problem with a user on the Shooter (2007 film) page. I came to you because you warned him previously for the same thing, but he hasn't stopped. DurinsBane87 19:56, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. I think it's been taken care of now. Jmlk17 21:56, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

"This is a User Page" obfuscation question

Jmlk, per an earlier discussion with ArielGold, she has redirected me to you for assistance in understanding something technical about the standard "This is a User Page" box that I've seen on lots of people's User Pages. Please reference my question to ArielGold on her user talk page above. Her responses are on my user talk page. Additionally, I have created this page, which I hope asks my question more specifically. Please note that I am a Java/JSP programmer by trade, and am proficient with HTML, so that part doesn't need explanation. Thanks. --MikeVitale 09:39, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Hoo boy! Thanks for the question Mike. Unfortunately, Ariel has overstated my knowledge of stuff lol. My programming and coding skills are not so good, and I think I am going to have to direct you to the village pump. I think someone there could more readily help you out than I could. Sorry! Jmlk17 15:16, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
LOL Hey, you're my hero, you're supposed to know everything!   ArielGold 15:19, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
My knowledge isn't that great Ariel, but very sweet of you nevertheless ;). Jmlk17 15:44, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
OK, thanks for the redirect to the pump. Question asked there. --MikeVitale 21:14, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Uhm, I cannot recall the exact IP, but I do recall that the user only had one edit within the past few days, yet you also reported userpage vandalism as well, even though it happened approaching a year ago. Jmlk17 03:09, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
