Spoilers on WrestleMania 22

edit

Please don't post SmackDown! match results/match listings on WrestleMania 22 until the show has aired in the United States. Thanks. Eenu (talk) 23:09, 24 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I am sorry you are upset about this. I did not make the policy. There are a lot of people in America who like to watch the show without knowing the results. I'm sure you would expect the same courtesy if it was you doesn't like to be spoiled and who didn't see the show until 24 hours later. Feel free to add RAW results, as I believe that show is live in Canada. Eenu (talk) 23:21, 24 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

User Templates?

edit

Are you talking about Userboxes, the list of boxes that have facts about me on my Userpage?

OK,
1. Put this on your user page:
{{Boxboxtop|About Me|right}}
{{Boxboxbottom}}
2. Explore Wikipedia:Userboxes for userboxes you want to use.
3. When you have found one you want to use, copy the text it tells you and put it inbetween the above tags. For example:
{{Boxboxtop|About Me|right}}
{{subst:user xbox}}
{{subst:user fox}}
{{Boxboxbottom}} creates:

Tell me if you have any questions. Oh, and make sure to use the {{ and }}. I went ahead and added one for you as an example. Eenu (talk) 01:24, 25 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Mike Comrie

edit

Hello. I removed a number of items from the Mike Comrie article based on a number of concerns. The part about Comrie being booed read like it was from personal experience of the author, which I now see was you. For information about why this is not good, please read the policy regarding no original research or the policy what Wikipedia is not. I also felt that this was relatively unimportant information for an encyclopedic article. Just think off all the NHL players that have ever been booed at any time in their careers. Would we put this information in each one of thier articles? The last reason, was that there was a hint of it being against our NPOV policy. -- JamesTeterenko 21:58, 28 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Batista vs. Henry

edit
See the thing is that while you saw it, the rest of the country didn't. WWE deliberately releases its commercials and promos on future events, spoiling the outcomes of matches and whatnot, to the local media. This is stupidly done to attract the interest of fans in that local area. The same thing happened with the Vengeance DX promo. That promo spoiled the return of the DX at Vengeance as it was released roughly 2 months before Vengeance. Another thing is Wikipedia Policy which forbids the addition of spoilers as Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. So please do not post spoilers until they are officially announced on either Raw, SmackDown!, and ECW or WWE.com. Thank you. 3bulletproof16 17:32, 28 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Great American Bash

Its cool, as long as it's legit and comes form an official source (Raw, SD!, ECW, WWE.com etc.) Just remember that Wikipedia is absolutely no place for fan rumors, gossip, spoilers, and other nonsense. Correction, telling someone to grow a spine is offensive, making it a personal attack. Read the policy. --James Duggan 23:55, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Then you don't know what personal character means. Telling someone to grow a spine attacks their personal character as it is directed at the person. In no way can that comment be considered a comment on the content. James Duggan 00:06, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Telling me to grow a spine is the same as saying I'm spineless, which is definately an attack on my personal character. The policy says to comment on the content, not the contributor, meaning ANY comment toward the contributor can be considered a personal attack. James Duggan 00:12, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Jeff Hardy

edit
  • There is a chance Jeff could go to ECW or Smackdown, but nothing is set yet. WWE.com not updating doesn't mean much. Sometimes they update things, while other times they don't. Many times in the past they have listed fired people on the roster for a bit, before they finally remove them. RobJ1981 18:43, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Lita is quitting WWE, stop deleting my sourced information!

edit

It's 100% confirmed by Dave Meltzer, who writes the Wrestling Observer newsletter, the most trusted news source in all of wrestling.

The news in the link I provided to LordsofPain.net is from Meltzer's newsletter. Dave posts some updates on his website (wrestlingobserver.com) but most of the inside stuff is only in his print newsletter and that's where LoP.net got it from. To get the news straight from Meltzer's site, go this link[3] I provided, and press "Ctrl" and F on your keyboard, type Lita and you'll see where Dave mentioned she is leaving.

When you said "PWI", do you mean the magazine Pro Wrestling Illustrated or website Pro Wrestling Insider? Neither one is really considered reliable (especially the magazine), and PW Insider mostly uses second hand information they got from the Observer Newsletter and Pro Wrestling Torch.

If you don't think Meltzer or the Torch are reliable, just read Mick Foley's books as he mentions them both and even used Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer as a source for his book Foley is Good. Do you work for PWI or something?

Please stop deleting the information I added, because it's 100% confirmed. I had trouble with people deleting the same sourced info for Trish Stratus and I was totally vindicated when it was mentioned on WWE.com and Raw yesterday, and I'm right about this too, so please don't delete it anymore. .--CJ 04:29, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image tagging for Image:Vision.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Vision.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Unspecified source for Image:Dan Knott.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Dan Knott.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 23:53, 15 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

To give the source, click on "Edit this page" on the image page at Image:Dan Knott.jpg. Then provide a URL or other information on where you obtained the image. If you took the image yourself, then say "I took this image myself" or something of the sorts. There also is not a license specified on the page. If you did take the image yourself, you then need to specify what license you wish to release the image under. I recommend {{cc-sa}}, but there are many others you could use and it it your choice. However, in order to remain on Wikipedia, the image must be released freely, under the GDFL. If you wish to maintain copyright, then the image cannot stay. If you did not take the picture, then you need to look at the website (or other location you found the image at) and determine what license applies. Good luck! Let me know if you need more help. --MECUtalk 20:21, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Down at the bottom of the page you can see it says "(c)2004 Dan Knott School All rights reserved" which means the image shouldn't be on Wikipedia. It seems you have an interest in this school, so you could take a picture yourself and upload it to Wikipedia (though Commons is preferred) and then include that image in the article. Also, attempting to use it under fair use is not acceptable since it would be easily replaceable. I request you put {{db-author}} on this image and remove it from the articles it is on. Once you upload the image you take (if you do) you can then use the same name and re-install it into the articles. If you do not do so, I will list it under the Wikipedia:Copyright problems section and it will most likely be deleted shortly. I'm sorry it didn't work out this time. --MECUtalk 20:33, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

how come u erased what I put (below on the wrestlemania page...)

It should be noted that some big names will not be wrestling at WrestleMania. Unless there is a Royal Rumble like in years past stars like Carlito, Rick Flair, Chavo Guerrero (the cruserweight champion, Bob Holly, and Chris Masters among others will not be wrestling at WrestleMania 23.

well it is actually notable, when you dont have a 16 time champ wrestling in the biggest event and people that have been getting big pushes not being in the biggest event of the year...Can you explain how that is not botable and I will leave the page be...

I am a huge wrestling fan, I am just trying to point it out on the page so incase other people didnt notice it...

ok, that is cool I guess... I was just trying to help a little...

But I wasnt listing every wrestler...just the bigger ones...

nice talking to you....

From the Editor

Welcome to the inaugural edition of the WikiProject Professional wrestling newsletter! I hope this will be a good source of news to those people interested in what's happening around our pro wrestlimg community. I plan to release it every Sunday.

This newsletter will just be a way to get the community announcements to people who don't have the time to check the mesageboards, as well that to those just curious about the news. The newsleter will consist of a project news section (to do with what's happening on Wikipedia), and a current events section (relating to news in the "real world"). The newslette will also contain the Collaboration of the Week announcement.

That's all. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please post them at this talk page.

Oilers ownership

edit

Please stop changing the infobox. That Lowe has to get approval from Katz (and EIG) to make his moves is because the ownership of the team is in flux, not because it has completed the change. It is blatantly untrue to state that Katz is the owner of the team at this time, because he has not been confirmed as such by the NHL Board of Governors. That is why the infobox says that a sale is pending to Katz. Until this step is complete, the formal owner of the Edmonton Oilers is EIG. Until the BOG vote, Katz is not the owner, he merely has an agreement to purchase the team. There is a significant difference between these two statements. Regards, Resolute 06:22, 9 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

"All intents and purposes" is not fact, and rather is blatantly POV. The BOG vote is just a formality, I agree, but that does not mean that Katz will be confirmed as the owner of the team until the vote is complete. Wikipedia deals in verifiable truth, not "well, it's going to happen, so lets change it now." And my location is completely irrelevant. Personally, I think the sale to Katz will be a very good thing for the Oilers, as EIG has been a decidedly mediocre owner of that franchise. Regardless, the change has to wait until the sale is complete. Resolute 06:30, 9 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't disagree that it is guaranteed to happen, but the Edmonton media reporting it as a fait acompli doesn't make it done. I had to protect the Johan Santana article last week for much the same reason - everyone knew he was going to be a New York Met in a matter of days, but until the deal was actually signed off on by the league, he was still formally a Twin. Much like the BOG vote, the updating of this article should wait until the sale is complete. There is no harm in the current statement - that EIG still formally owns the team, with a sale to Katz pending league approval. Resolute 06:40, 9 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Actually, the statement is completely true. Katz does not formally own the team until the BOG approves. The need for the business to gain the approval of an incoming owner is a standard business practice, and does not invalidate the statement as it stands. Resolute 06:45, 9 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

TNA NWA title controversy

edit

I can explain. The reason as to why former NWA champions in TNA are usually also called former TNA champions isn't necessarily because TNA considers NWA title reigns as part of the TNA title's history. Its actually because they held the NWA title within TNA. It’s the same reason as to why Randy Orton is sometimes called the youngest WWE champion in the history of the company even though he became the youngest champion with the World Heavyweight title and not the WWE title. It’s just a much easier way for both companies to add some relevance to certain reigns in current events than to go into a more complex explanation for fans to understand. -- bulletproof 3:16 04:35, 16 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Civility

edit

Try to keep your sarcasm and foul language at bay. It doesn't help with anything, and it can escalate already heated situations. Be civil.-Wafulz (talk) 03:27, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I mean stuff like this: [7] [8] [9]. It's especially baffling when you found this to be rude.-Wafulz (talk) 10:41, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Undertaker's streak

edit

I'm not going to template you but as LAX and me are in agreement then you need to establish consensus for your edit, what happens on one article does not dictate what happens on another. Name me another wrestler with 16 consecutive wins at WM.

Reverted to, 1st diff, 2nd diff, 3rd diff. Darrenhusted (talk) 15:40, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please stop harassing us by calling us racist. Us established contributors judge based on what we believe, not on one's race. --LAX 16:07, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
You pretty much are calling us racist by saying we are "pro-American". That may be true in some cases, but I fail to see how that will impact this debate. This has nothing to do based on race. If you hadn't brought that up, nobody would have said anything about it. I'm sure most people didn't even know you were Canadian, unless they have read your userpage. --LAX 16:16, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
What are you talking about? You just started the debate and nobody as reverted your last edit on Taker's page. Just give the discussion some time. --LAX 16:27, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Dude (I think thats how you talk) I'm sure most people didn't know even your canadian! I'm sure theres lots of successful canadian wikipedians! So don't blame americans if your not successful! I'm Northern Irish (I'm sure you don't even know where that is!) and I've been pretty successful! Adster95 (talk) 16:32, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ok Maybe I did get a bit arrogant and Im sorry for that but I don't think you should go around calling people racists! Adster95 (talk) 16:47, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

WP:FILMS Questionnaire

edit

As a member of WikiProject Films, you are invited to take part in the project's first questionnaire. It is intended to gauge your participation and views on the project. At the conclusion of the questionnaire, the project's coordinators will use the gathered feedback to find new ways to improve the project and reach out to potential members. The results of the questionnaire will be published in next month's newsletter. If you know of any editors who have edited film articles in the past, please invite them to take part in the questionnaire. Please stop by and take a few minutes to answer the questions so that we can continue to improve our project. Happy editing!

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
