April 2015
editHello, I'm Velella. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Micah Solusod, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Velella Velella Talk 19:22, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
- Well, using twitter as a citation is acceptable but the problem is that the tweet was posted on April Fool's Day and has not been followed up with confirmation. However, if it is going forward, we should expect to see wedding planning activity later. -AngusWOOF (talk) 18:03, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

Ratchet & Clank
editHello, I'm Gareth Griffith-Jones. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to Ratchet & Clank (film) because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. — | Gareth Griffith-Jones |The WelshBuzzard| — 06:49, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- I removed all that information because it was a case of WP:COPYVIO. Specifically, all the text was taken word for word from this page, with no attempt to rewrite it, and the rest was unsourced. It wasn't the first time that this text was reverted either; 122.61.158.93 added it two other times before this, and was reverted both times by XLinkBot and Masem; at this point, his edits were in violation of WP:3RR. My edits were fully constructive. -- 136.181.195.25 (talk) 13:12, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for your post. I have had another look at your edit and it is right that you have reinstated it. Cheers! — | Gareth Griffith-Jones |The WelshBuzzard| — 13:49, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U
editYour recent editing history at Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
Please do not add or change content, as you did to Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, without verifying it by citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at WP:CITE and take this opportunity to add reliable references to the article. Thank you. TheTMOBGaming2 (talk) 17:26, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

plse use edit summary
editHi there! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
I noticed your recent edit to article does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.
Edit summary content is visible in:
- User contributions
- Recent changes
- Watchlists
- Revision differences
- IRC channels
- Related changes
- New pages list and
- Article editing history
Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! --Wuerzele (talk) 06:21, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
Rare Replay
edit(diff) The passage you quoted at WP:VG/DATE has nothing to do with unilaterally changing the type of English used in an article. The English variety guideline says not to change the format unless there is consensus to do so—it is clearly contested and I explained why strong national ties to a topic doesn't apply, so please revert your edit per the bold, revert, discuss cycle. czar 19:16, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
- Can you really say it's "clearly contested" if you're the only one who's raised an objection and every game in the compilation uses the British style? There's clearly a precedent. -- 136.181.195.25 (talk) 19:21, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
- I haven't raised the objection—you have. It has existed in this form since its original version (which is how it should stay per English variety guideline) so your new edit is what suggests something different. There is no "precedent"—every article is considered on its own merits. czar 19:24, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
- And yet the variety guideline states "The English Wikipedia prefers no major national variety of the language over any other", so it's not like it's a requirement. Also, the article is less than six months old; "since the original version" isn't exactly a lengthy period of time. Still, I'm open to discussing it with others on the main talk page. -- 136.181.195.25 (talk) 19:39, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
When an English variety's consistent usage has been established in an article, maintain it in the absence of consensus to the contrary.

editFor Sam Riegel's roles where his name appears in the video game credits along with his role, you can use {{cite video game}}

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled.
editI clearly said that Penta has not been confirmed to be playable in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. The fact he appears in a cutscene means nothing, especially when all the videos we've seen so far show 25 playable characters, not 26. Wait until he is actually revealed to be playable before claiming him to be as such. 85.211.129.184 (talk) 14:02, 7 June 2019 (UTC)
- The cited source says EVERY character is playable. If you have evidence that doesn't include Penta, I'm all ears. -- 136.181.195.25 (talk) 14:45, 7 June 2019 (UTC)
- Watch just about any gameplay video and you'll see the current roster of characters, all of which say 25/25 and none of which involve Penta. Even the official Activision Blog on the game doesn't mention him. Fact of the matter is, until there is evidence that shows Penta to be playable, we can't include him. 85.211.129.184 (talk) 14:51, 7 June 2019 (UTC)
- And an earlier video didn't show the Nitro Kart characters. There's no indication that those 25 are the final roster, nor has any indication ever been made as such. By contrast, we have a text source in that same paragraph FROM Activision that says every character is returning. That's a definitive confirmation, and you'll need a better source if you want to suggest Penta is not in. -- 136.181.195.25 (talk) 14:58, 7 June 2019 (UTC)
- Wrong. Whilst there is no indication that those 25 are the final roster, that is what we know for a fact to be true as of right now - that is what we have as concrete proof at the moment and your Nitro Kart claims mean nothing. And your "definitive confirmation" is far from definitive at all....where does it specifically say that Penta is in the game? The answer is it doesn't. 85.211.129.184 (talk) 15:01, 7 June 2019 (UTC)
- Uh, yes it does. Again, the exact sentence is "all the kooky characters from Crash Team Racing". Penta is in CTR. Therefore, Penta is in the game. -- 136.181.195.25 (talk) 15:06, 7 June 2019 (UTC)
- And, again, the same article clearly states all the currently confirmed characters and Penta is not one of them. Therefore, he is not confirmed. The article doesn't name him specifically, so therefore he can't be included. 85.211.129.184 (talk) 15:14, 7 June 2019 (UTC)

- Y'see, now Penta has been confirmed as playable because gameplay footage of him has shown up, with his icon in the character select screen. Because we now have direct evidence of him being playable, he can be included. 85.211.142.108 (talk) 06:27, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
Wow, so you resort to lying?
editSaying I'm removing confirmed information when not once Penta has been confirmed? Saying I have no prior editing history when I have been contributing for Wikipedia for well over 12 years? That's real mature. 85.211.129.184 (talk) 15:19, 7 June 2019 (UTC)

- I wouldn't have been so antagonistic if you actually listened to what I said. Trust me, my reasoning is based on the same reasoning I've been through before. Also, I don't think you have the right to call me antagonistic if you're resorting to telling lies about me. 85.211.129.184 (talk) 15:37, 7 June 2019 (UTC)
- Except I didn't lie. Your current IP DOESN'T have any existing history (and nothing to indicate you had any previous IPs), and you removed a sentence (all the CTR characters are in) that was directly stated in the cited source. I haven't made any statements about your activity that were untrue. -- 136.181.195.25 (talk) 15:58, 7 June 2019 (UTC)
- You said there were 26 confirmed characters when there are only 25 confirmed characters as of right now, and you deliberately said I admitted to being antagonistic, when I was simply humouring you. That constitutes a lie. Once again, that article does not mention Penta, thus does not confirm he is playable. 85.211.129.184 (talk) 16:16, 7 June 2019 (UTC)

- Because obviously there was some dispute, so we should have discussed it further before making any changes, as I suggested immediately once we both had three edits under our belt. Instead, you broke the rules to restore your version of the statement. And if you were only removing the "incorrect" information, you would have done what I did and removed the number instead of the part stated in the source. Had you done that from the start, I wouldn't have cared. (Also, you still haven't explained how I could have known you were any other IP without being told.) -- 136.181.195.25 (talk) 16:33, 7 June 2019 (UTC)
- Wrong, again. I clearly did not break the rules, I reverted it back to the correct version. You said there were 26 characters, there were clearly 25 in videos, 25 listed, Penta has not been confirmed, you just keep clinging to that one sentence - you cannot deny the fact that, as we know it, there are 25 characters in the game, not 26. If you had done the whole remove the number thing in the first place, instead of insisting on having your way and then penalizing me for removing unconfirmed information, this wouldn't have happened in the first place. And then you failed to get a joke, which doesn't help. (Well, if you weren't sure, you shouldn't have said I was) 85.211.129.184 (talk) 16:38, 7 June 2019 (UTC)

To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. If you register an account, you can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you could put a link to it on your user page.
Please remember to:
- Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes
~~~~
at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your IP address linked to your contributions page (however, if you create an account, your IP address will be hidden and you will be able to build a custom signature that can link to your own user page), a link to this IP's talk page, and a timestamp. - Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.
This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
