editOn 1 February 2023, Tumisang Orebonye joined USM Alger for a two-and-a-half-year, coming from the Moroccan club OC Khouribga.[1] It is Usmiste coach Abdelhak Benchikha who is behind his recruitment, who had a good idea of his profile when he was coaching RS Berkane at the start of the season.[1] USMA supporters wonder how the club's management hired a suspended player, Orebonye did not participate with the team in the Ligue 1 until February due to a previous penalty, as he was suspended for 6 months by the Disciplinary Committee of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.[2] Orebonye made his debut for USM Alger in the CAF Confederation Cup during a win against Saint-Éloi Lupopo, a week later in the same competition against Al Akhdar, Orebonye scored his first goal in the match, which ended in a 1–1 draw.[3]
On 3 June 2023, Orebonye won the first title with his team by winning the CAF Confederation Cup, where he became the first Botswana player to win a continental title.[4][5] On 15 September 2023, Orebonye won the CAF Super Cup title after winning against Al Ahly, it is the second African title with USM Alger in three months.[6] Tumisang Orebonye decided not to continue the adventure on USM Alger and announced to his managers his intention to change the scene starting this winter. Tumisang was summoned following a report made against him by head coach Juan Carlos Garrido, in which he criticized him for his lack of commitment and enthusiasm in the job. The Spaniard accused his player of cheating, by faking fictitious injuries in order not to take part in matches. Summoned immediately, Tumisang in front of his officials his desire to leave El Ittihad and his wish to experience other sensations elsewhere than in the Ligue 1.[7] On January 9, 2024, USM Alger announced the termination of Tumisang Orebonye's contract, the Algerian club indicated that it had accepted their request to end its collaboration with L'USMA. Wishing to start a new adventure, Orebonye's is now free to join the club of his choice.[8]
