Network vs channel
editI see that this article refers to BBC2 as a 'television network'. This is a technical term not used by normal people. I have never heard anyone refer to BBC1, BBC2, ITV etc. as a 'network', and I think few normal people could state what a television 'network' was. In normal parlance these things are invariably called 'channels', so I think the article should use that term. Ben Finn (talk) 21:31, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- The BBC radio and television services are networks: there are variations in programming throughout the UK, and different transmission facilities broadcast to different areas on different frequencies. The BBC Two outlet where you live is called a channel. Whether someone is 'normal' or not has nothing to do with the issue. Radiopathy •talk• 23:41, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
BBC Two England
editHow can you deleted BBC Two England? You know perfectly that there's an English version of BBC2. Why don't you delete BBC2 Scotch, BBC2 Northern Paddy and BBC2 Walloon? —Preceding unsigned comment added by GEAT BEOWULF (talk • contribs) 10:57, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
Minority of viewers not receiving BBC Four
editIs the section that says that a minority of viewers do not receive BBC Four soon going to be out of date, given that the great switch to digital television will soon have affected all of the United Kingdom? ACEOREVIVED (talk) 19:50, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
Nomenclature
editThe BBC dropped its use of "BBC TWO" (Upper Case letters) several years ago in favour of the more stream-lined "BBC 2", which matches its screen idents. BBC One retains the spelling of the word "One" instead of using the digit 1. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.182.103.14 (talk) 05:38, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
BBC Two England and national varients
editHow come BBC Two England has slipped back into the article. This was decided ages ago on the talk page for the short lived BBC Two England article. There is no such thing. BBC Two England is the name of network BBC Two and is only used to represent the network version seen in England, to different it from the altered schedules used by the nations. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland all opt out of BBC Two at certain times to show their own programmes, hence they have articles: BBC Two Scotland, BBC Two Wales and BBC Two Northern Ireland. There is no BBC Two England.
As a result of this could all references to BBC Two England be removed and that section cleaned up. Rafmarham (talk) 14:21, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
- I agree and reverted the edit, not only is their no BBC Two England, but their is no BBC One England. This is explained in the last paragraph about the former English regions being able to opt out of Network, and that "There is no specific BBC Two England, this role is fulfilled by the network BBC Two". -- [[ axg ◉ talk ]] 18:27, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
