Summary

Description

Chain order is: PW Tuner > MXR Dyna Comp > EHX POG > Vox Wha > Maxon OD-9 > Proco Rat > EHX BM > EHX Tube EQ > EHX Pulsar

Planet Waves Tuner CT-04: Floor tuner, won over the classic Boss TU-2 as it's true bypass.

MXR Dyna Comp: Classic compressor, replaces a Boss CS-3 I was never happy with because of the excessive hum.

Electro-Harmonix Polyphonic Octaver Generator: Octaver (sub and upper octaves + detuned upper octaves) - made popular by Jack White on 'Blue Orchid' and overused on the Stripes latest release Icky Thump. It can emulate (convincingly) a bass, a 12-string or even an organ (think Hammond B3). Replaces a Digitech Whammy WH-4, even if it's quite different as the POG 'lacks' an expression pedal - but this damn thing track chords (for ten times less the price of an Eventide Harmonizer...). Loads of fun and endless possibilities, but subtle use is recommended.

Vox V847 Wah: Stock wah, needs true bypass and power supply mods. Replaces a Dunlop Crybaby which sounded too harsh.

Maxon OD-9: Classic overdrive, the closest thing to the original Ibanez TS-9? Well they used to outsource it from Maxon... The OD-9 also has true bypass... Sweet! Keeley-modded TS9?? Give me a break.

ProCo Rat2: Mean distortion box, verges on fuzz with the tone/filter control. Replaces a Vintage Rat Reissue which had no on/off LED and a bit less gain. Also a great throwing weapon, the thing is built as a tank.

Electro-Harmonix Big Muff PI reissue: Bulky, unreliable, over-the-top fuzz. A must-have.

Electro-Harmonix Tube EQ: Tube-driven equalizer. May sound strange but it replaces an EHX British Muff (tube-driven OD): I play on a solid-state amp, Gibson Gold Chorus (think Roland JC-120, but better?!), so I liked to have the British Muff adding a bit of 'tube' sparkle running it on low gain and high volume but inexplicably parted from it (well, another victim of GAS). I looked at various tube pedals and eventually settled for this one, which fits perfectly my needs and handles well distortion.

Electro-Harmonix Stereo Pulsar: A new version of the Pulsar in XO format with stereo output. Sweet sounding tremolo, vintage-style. Replaces an EHX Worm: a great 4-in-1 effect with Tremolo, Vibrato, Phaser and Auto-wah.

The board is a Pedaltrain (medium version), patches are mostly Rean (for now!) and everything's powered up by a Dunlop DC-10 brick which fits under the pedaltrain.
