Abstract:

Enhancing the performance of adhesively-bonded materials is crucial for various industrial applications, particularly in high-stress environments. The effect type and size of metallic microparticle material and size on shearstrength of three-layer aluminum/adhesive/aluminum sheets was investigated in this work. Two types of metalmicroparticles were incorporated into the adhesive layer to observe their effects on the overall shear strength. Thestudy reveals that both the types of material and size of the metal microparticles have a significant impact on the shearstrength and failure modes of aluminum/adhesive/aluminum sheets. Smaller microparticles tend to enhance the shearstrength and promote mixed failure modes, while different materials can lead to variations in the effectiveness ofbonding.
