Anthony Crosland is often cited to have said "the party is over" (directed at a local government in 1975), meaning that state could no longer guarantee full employment by spending more and more money e.g. for employment programs. Did he really say that? --87.176.155.36 06:48, 19 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

In the The Times for 10 May, 1975 it reports Crosland giving a speech in Manchester Town Hall on 9 May, 1975, where he said: "With its usual spirit of patriotism and its tradition of service to the community's needs, it is coming to realize that, for the time being at least, the party is over".--Johnbull 09:42, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
