Marbot articles

[edit]

Please just create one at a time and put some information in it. Otherwise it will rightly be tagged for speedy deletion as an "empty" article and an admin will come along and delete it, which is a waste of everyone's time.

When creating new articles, to ensure they don't get deleted for not being "notable", ensure they fulfil our policy which, to summarise, is that the topic must be the subject of multiple non trivial references in reliable sources. Cheers. --Dweller (talk) 21:48, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

[edit]

I'm always happy to help. My name's Dweller. First tip is that you're doing the right things, generally, but best of all you're communicating. Communicating with other editors is essential. This is a community that works on consensus. Second tip would be that when you post to talk pages (either article discussion pages, or user talk pages) sign your comments with four "tildes" (~~~~) It signs your name and date-stamps the comment, which is useful when people try to follow the conversation. Also, try to always use the "edit summary" box when you edit. If like me you're forgetful, there's a setting in your user preferences that you can tick to force you to do it. Finally, any questions or comments, drop me a line. Your edits look very interesting. I strongly recommend you read WP:NPOV and WP:PEACOCK to avoid common mistakes of new editors. --Dweller (talk) 12:16, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I happened to stumble upon the revision history of Marbot family a few days ago, and noticed the three years of incorrect bot edits being reverted. Basically, the bots are modifying the French language link because the German article, which is a disambiguation page for the name rather than an article on the family, correctly links the French article (also about the name) fr:Marbot as an interlanguage link. The bots try to make interlanguage links consistent between all the language editions of Wikipedia, which is why they kept modifying the link on the English article. I've now left a note for the bots per this help page, so they shouldn't disturb the French interlanguage link any further. Hope this helps! ehird (talk) 20:19, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
