Request reason:
Caught by a colocation web host block but this host or IP is not a web host. My IP address is _______. I'm sorry this might be my fault. I keep getting logged out for some reason. I think I can fix this problem. Can I have my editing privileges back, please? You'll see that I've nominated the Eureka flag article for a-class staus. But there might be more work to do as it's being looked at presently. The number of hours I've already spent on that article is substantial and I'd really like to see it upgraded. Robbiegibbons (talk) 01:17, 9 July 2021 (UTC)
Decline reason:
I see no block on this account directly. If you are unable to edit, you will need to tell us the exact message that appears when you attempt to edit, along with the IP address in the message. If you do not wish to give your IP address publicly, you may use WP:UTRS. 331dot (talk) 01:26, 9 July 2021 (UTC)

Timeline of the Eureka Rebellion moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Timeline of the Eureka Rebellion, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. The page Eureka Monument has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appeared to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appeared to be a direct copy from http://eurekapedia.org/Eureka_Monument. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition has been be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. - I have had a look at this issue. I don't deny the content looks very similar. But I think you'll find that the author of this page <https://bootcampmilitaryfitnessinstitute.com/2020/12/03/what-was-the-eureka-rebellion-1854> has plagiarised the Wikipedia article in question rather than me having plagiarised them. I think there is something called the way back machine that would allow Wikipedia to make that determination.
- Robbiegibbons (talk) 23:25, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
- My mistake, I definitely should have looked more closely. However, material copied from other Wikipedia articles should be attributed, and I've done so in an edit summary and on the talk pages of both articles. I'm sorry about leaving such a menacing template on your talk page without doing my due diligence. — SamX [talk · contribs] 05:55, 19 July 2023 (UTC)

Eureka Stockade (fortification) and Eureka Stockade Memorial Park
[edit]Hi Robbiegibbons. You've added "MacFalane 1994" (which I'm guessing bis a misspelling of MacFarlane) to Eureka Stockade (fortification) and Eureka Stockade Memorial Park. Whether "MacFalane 1994" or "MacFarlane 1994" neither are defined in either article. Could you add the required cites to the Bibliography sections of the two articles, or lete know what work this refers to? Deletion discussion about Hugh King (soldier)
[edit]Hello Robbiegibbons, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Hugh King (soldier), should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hugh King (soldier).
Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Copyright problem: Timeline of the flag of Australia
[edit]Hello Robbiegibbons! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Timeline of the flag of Australia, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted material from other websites or printed works. This article appears to contain work copied from https://www.anfa-national.org.au/history-of-our-flag/, and therefore to constitute a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policies. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted. While we appreciate your contributions, copying content from other websites is unlawful and against Wikipedia's copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators are likely to lose their editing privileges.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under license allowed by Wikipedia, then you should do one of the following:
- Have the author release the text under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 License (CC BY-SA 4.0) by leaving a message explaining the details at Talk:Timeline of the flag of Australia and send an email with confirmation of permission to "permissions-enwikimedia.org". Make sure they quote the exact page name, Timeline of the flag of Australia, in their email. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If you hold the copyright to the work: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 License and GNU Free Documentation License, and note that you have done so on Talk:Timeline of the flag of Australia. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted "under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License (CC BY-SA), version 4.0", or that the work is released into the public domain, or if you have strong reason to believe it is, leave a note at Talk:Timeline of the flag of Australia with a link to where we can find that note or your explanation of why you believe the content is free for reuse.
It may also be necessary for the text to be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
See Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries for a template of the permissions letter the copyright holder is expected to send.
Otherwise, you may rewrite this article from scratch. If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:Timeline of the flag of Australia saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved.

Some Thoughts
[edit]Hi Robbiegibbons, I just wanted to touch on a few things with all the AFDs. First off, I know this can be a little demoralizing, but your depth of research and knowledge on this topic is really quite impressive. I think the main thing that you could benefit from is focusing on WP:NOTABILITY. You mention the Alamo a few times, which I often try not to compare things (see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS) but even with the Alamo, take a look at {{Battle of the Alamo}}, the level of depth you are getting into is just too deep for Wikipedia. A good idea could be wrapping a lot of these articles and lists into larger grouping and then focusing on just providing the key information. As an example, you could create Legacy of the Eureka Rebellion and group a lot of these standalone articles into it (like the Chartism, popular culture, vexillology, Republicanism, White nationalism, etc). Regarding the lists, maybe a higher level list of people related to the Rebellion or the Stockade, with a focus on only the people who have Wikipedia articles. Again, I think the main issue I see imhop is splitting up a topic that would be better served as a higher level summary of just the key points. I hope this helps. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 18:00, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
- I want to second this. It's a matter of style. You obviously have the depth of content, but it needs to be styled like an encyclopedia article, and in particular to follow Wikipedia style. For example, the topics of all of the separate articles about the Rebellion need to be included in the main article, perhaps in abbreviated form. Look at Alamo-Legacy as an example. Each of your separate articles needs to be introduced in the main article, so think of it as an outline to the entire project. I might be able to find some time to help. Ping me at User talk:Lamona. - Thank you I'm sure you are an experienced editor it's all good feedback. I'm going to have a good think about it and get back to you in the deletion threads. If I am going to continue as a wikipedian a great and general debate about where the series is at and where we go to from here is exactly what we needed. Robbiegibbons (talk) 03:04, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hi - I'd mostly like to (somewhat) echo the comments above. I don't quite agree that all the Eureka articles you've created are deletion worthy, there are some where the problem is content related rather than notability related. Nevertheless, while I've taken a delete perspective regarding the White Nationalism article, looking at how that article has been written, if you're not already using it, I would encourage accessing the Wikipedia Library. I mention this, because much of the sourcing that you've placed in that article is significantly dated and when combined with the use of WP:PRIMARY sources this reinforces the SYNTH/OR issues. Discussion on issues related to Eureka and nationalism, race, gender, and ethnicity has moved significantly on since the first waves of popularisation of Eureka. I'd also recommend utilising high quality sourcing (ie academic presses or peer-review journals) rather than journalistic reports (eg Peter Fitzsimons is an opinion writer, rather than a trained historian). Eureka
[edit]Hi - thanks for your message. I am no longer a very active Wikipedian. I think some of your articles are excellently researched and very interesting but am not sure if they are not too detailed for an encyclopaedia.
At present I am working on a Eureka project at WikiTree and my areas of current focus can be seen at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Eureka_Stockade_todo
The difference between Wikipedia and Wikitree is expressed at https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1055378/contrasting-wikitree-and-wikipedia
- Wikipedia only makes articles about notables, and notables are people where there are "secondary" publications debating various aspects of peoples' lives etc. Wikipedia editors are not supposed to focus too much on raw evidence, nor to make new hypotheses. So they should mainly gather published commentaries.
- Wikitree, in contrast, (1) has mainly articles for non-notable people (2) specializes in listing out and analyzing the raw evidence and even adding comments about new hypotheses.
WikiTree is a genealogy site that records everyone regardless of notability. In line with the maxim "History remembers only the celebrated, genealogy remembers them all", I think Wikitree is a great place to remember all those caught up in the rebellion and by doing so allow people to connect to those who were there in different roles. So there is a list of police officers being developed at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Eureka_Police, a list of those arrested at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Eureka_arrests and then witnesses called also on that page ... Timothy Hayes, who pleayed a leading role in the rebellion, is not notable to gain a Wikipedia article butresearch about his life is appropriately gathered at Wikitree https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Hayes-3915 : that level of detail would not be appropriate on Wikipedia in my view.

Thoughts about Eureka
[edit]Hello Robbiegibbons,
I've just seen what happened to those Eureka articles. I'd like to get in touch off-wiki. If that's possible for you, email me at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:EmailUser?wpTarget=Renerpho. Renerpho (talk) 05:09, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
- I will. But at this stage I've seen a few things during this process that makes me think I don't want to be involved with wikipedia any longer. Robbiegibbons (talk) 13:24, 8 September 2024 (UTC)

Monty Miller
[edit]Hi User:Robbiegibbons - thanks for your work on the Eureka articles (which I've only just discovered), you've done a fantastic job in expanding Wikipedia's coverage of the topic. I'm wondering if you have come across any contemporary coverage of Montague Miller being present at the stockade? He is not listed in List of Eureka Stockade defenders, but in later life (around 1900 onwards), he was apparently quite adamant in claiming to have fought and been injured as a teenager. I'm a little dubious about this, given the passage of time between the rebellion and when his claims are first mentioned. I T B F 📢 03:03, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
