Hello! Lois12jd, you are invited to the Teahouse, a forum on Wikipedia for new editors to ask questions about editing Wikipedia, and get support from peers and experienced editors. Please join us! Liz Read! Talk! 17:17, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Mayors of Oisterwijk requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Empty categories

[edit]

Hello, Lois12jd,

Could you please leave empty categories tagged for CSD C1 deletion alone? You do not need to remove any parent categories or any links to the Commons or other projects. Every time a tagged category is edited, it moves to the bottom of the list and it can be useful for an admin to see the related parent categories. Once they are tagged for deletion, please let them be. If they turn out to not be empty after 7 days, I, or another editor, will remove the deletion tag.

If you have question about categories, I encourage you to visit the Teahouse, check out Categories for Discussion or ask me on my talk page. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:50, 13 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

February 2021

[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Molenpolder, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. There is only one existing page named Moldenpolder; there is no need for a page which disambiguates non-existent pages. ‡ Єl Cid of Valencia talk 19:41, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Templates Michelin

[edit]

Usually templates are only created when they have five (5) primary links. That is why I had combined those three provinces. Now you have created templates with 4, 4 and just 1 primary link. The Banner talk 11:21, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

By now, I have nominated those templates for deletion with a request to restore the original template. By the way, did you discuss the change anywhere? As creator of the templates I am not aware of any discussion. The Banner talk 11:36, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, let's restore the old version. Lois12jd (talk) 13:39, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Denk

[edit]

Hello. A couple of quick points re your edits to this article. Firstly, we do not use the 'official' name of a party – we used the most common name used in English. DENK should only be used if most news articles and books use the same way of writing it – if the majority use Denk, then that's what we should do.

Secondly, you should not rename a category by moving it and changing links on articles. Instead you should use the WP:CfD process. You can request categories be 'speedy' moved to match article titles, but this can only be done if an article has been renamed as part of an WP:RM discussion, or has been at the same title for some time. Forum for Democracy

[edit]

Hello. Wikipedia is based on reliable sources, and most of them abbreviate the Forum for Democracy party as FvD and not FVD. If you have non-primary and reliable sources that abbreviate them as FVD, I would with no doubt look through them. Thanks, Vacant0 (talk) 21:46, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Here are relevant links that abbreviate Forum for Democracy as FVD:

Lois12jd (talk) 09:47, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again. Forum for Democracy's website is a primary source and it can't be used in this situation, however, the other two can be used as a source. To avoid edit wars, you can open a discussion here on Forum for Democracy's talk page to discuss changing the abbreviation from FvD to FVD. Thanks, Vacant0 (talk) 11:18, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lois12jd: Hello, I have reverted your edits (here and here) because consensus wasn't established. As I have previously said, Wikipedia is based on reliable and third-party sources and Forum for Democracy's website doesn't meet that criteria. The other two websites do meet the criteria, however, a consensus must be established before changing its abbreviation because those two sources are outnumbered by other sources that abbreviate them as FvD. In the future, before making these kinds of changes you must discuss your proposal with other editors too. Be sure to read these guidelines. Thanks, Vacant0 (talk) 18:54, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Diffusing function of categories

[edit]

Lois12jd, thanks for adding categories to articles about Dutch politicians! However, I also saw that you added the category 50PLUS politicians to Liane den Haan's article. I removed this category, because the article is already placed in its subcategory Leaders of 50PLUS. According to WP:SUBCAT "pages for sub-categories should be categorised under the most specific parent categories possible". This means that categories should be diffusing, i.e. an article in a subcategory (Leaders of 50PLUS) should not also be in its parent category (50PLUS politicians). An exception to this rule is a non-diffusing category, but "Leaders of 50PLUS" is not such a category (it does not have the template, nor do the guidelines indicate that it should be one).

I would also like you to reconsider the category LGBT rights activists from the Netherlands on Den Haan's page. An activist is a "person who campaigns to bring about political or social change". Den Haan indeed served as managing director of COC Nederland, an LGBT rights activism organization. However, due to COC Nederland's structure, it has a chair, who serves as its spokesperson and campaigner, and it has a separate managing director (Den Haan), who is responsible for the organizational structure and finances. Having read news articles about her time there when writing the article, I think it would be a stretch to call her an activist; she has not spoken at rally's, has not been part of or organized demonstrations, and has not spoken out for change. She was just involved in the organizational stuff. - Tristan Surtel (talk) 07:38, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tristan Surtel. I agree about what you said about LGBT rights activism, so I removed the relevant category. But I don't agree about your remarks about categorizing as politician and political leader because I noticed that other political leaders have been categorized both politician and political leader, see e.g. Mark Rutte, Sigrid Kaag, and Geert Wilders. Categories

[edit]

Hi Lois12jd, I saw you edited the categories of a couple of articles related to the Netherlands armed forces. I saw you added and then removed a category on the Korps Commandotroepen page for example, and there appears to be a Netherlands Armed Forces category in addition to the Military of the Netherlands category. Is there any way in which I can help with categorisation? --Bliekindewater (talk) 13:31, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bliekindewater. Thank you for your offer but everything is settled now. Lois12jd (talk) 20:29, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
