JC's Girls

Hi Cirt,

I hope that life has been well with you since we were last in touch. Might you have time to review an article I have up for featured status? It is called JC's Girls. Any comments you might add to the discussion would be greatly appreciated.

Neelix (talk) 20:16, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

Quite busy lately but good luck to you. — Cirt (talk) 16:22, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
  • Although I realize you're not an admin on Wikipedia anymore, I still thought I'd let you know that I re-created this article. I have no idea how it looked back in 2010 but I'm guessing WP:MUSICBIO was tighter back then, as now charting a single song on any music chart passes notability. Erpert blah, blah, blah... 03:43, 26 July 2015 (UTC)
Okay, Erpert, thanks for the notification. :) — Cirt (talk) 05:45, 26 July 2015 (UTC)

Help on Wikiquote

We have a pair of sockpuppet accounts on Wikiquote, adding Wikipedia articles, Flag templates like crazy, marking me as a "sockpuppet" and adding templates for that. There don't seem to be any admins on-line over there. --EncycloPetey (talk) 01:03, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

New Shia Islam Portal

A Portal:Shia Islam has been established. However, it is still in the rudementary stages, and needs significant support. Could you please help in the establishment of the page, especially things such as templates (Portal:Shia Islam/Selected article/Layout). Any help will be greatly appreciated. --Cuparsk | ‏الحسين‎ 03:55, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

Sorry quite busy in life, stopping in from time to time for smaller projects only these days. — Cirt (talk) 19:30, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice that Portal:Internet/DYK/10, a page that you created, has been tagged for deletion. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — TaqPol talk contrib 12:44, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

Oh god... I'm really sorry - I think I might have incorrectly tagged the page for speedy deletion as I'm cleaning up the vandalism of an vandalism-only account... Hopefully it haven't broke other stuff and you are able to get the content back. Again, I'm really sorry about that. — TaqPol talk contrib 12:53, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
@NeilN: Sir, fyi on this. --Efe (talk) 13:07, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for your help. — Cirt (talk) 16:22, 18 September 2015 (UTC)

Any chance I could persuade you to take on the review? It should, pretty much, be a walkover as explained on Maile66's talk page. Let me know. Peace, Jonas Vinther • (Click here to collect your price!) 13:01, 13 September 2015 (UTC)

Don't really have a chance right now, but glad you're doing quality improvement work. — Cirt (talk) 16:22, 18 September 2015 (UTC)

Please Restore Voluntary Content Rating: Mentioned in Law Review

In 2010 you moved the Voluntary Content Rating page into my userspace (User:ArneBab/Voluntary_Content_Rating). Another user found it mentioned in a Law Review from 1997 where VCR is described in the words “The Voluntary Content Rating self-rating system promoted by CYBERSitter is almost the model of a standard”.

Following the deletion review guidelines I’d like to ask you to review the move into userspace in light of that new information. If you agree that a mention in Law Review establishes notability, please move the current version back to the original article.

(the information was available shortly after the move into userspace, but it took me quite some time to recover enough from seeing it removed from the main Wikipedia to take up the issue again)

If you move it back into main space, please leave a redirect from my user page, since I have some links pointing there which I do not want to see broken. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ArneBab (talkcontribs) 06:36, 15 September 2015 (UTC)

I'll respectfully defer to others in the community about this. — Cirt (talk) 16:22, 18 September 2015 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:2008 01 Portland Monthly Magazine.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:2008 01 Portland Monthly Magazine.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:12, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

Why now?

Considering the fact that I have been contributing to Wikipedia since July of 2007, and that it has been almost two months since my last post (August 3, 2015), I am puzzled why you have all of a sudden, now, sent me a "Welcome to Wikipedia" message. You included a link to this page and said to use it if I had any questions, so here I am, asking. —Hccrle (talk) 09:58, 29 September 2015 (UTC)

FAC

I've thought for a while about about how to approach you about what you just did at FAC, and in the end I guess I'd just appreciate an explanation of your thought process. From my perspective, you left a comment on virtually every nomination on this list, linking to your own nomination, and seemingly having spent minimal time examining the article (based on looking at the time between each comment). By my count, you supported 13 nominations in the span of a few hours. What am I supposed to make of this? --Laser brain (talk) 15:04, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

Thanks

...for looking at Washington Redskins name controversy. Inline citations are down to 378. Overall size is shrinking slower, the lists I split off to another article often had multiple sources for each item. I have removed obviously outdated information and moved content to related articles that already exist.FriendlyFred (talk) 20:17, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

I should appreciate the help, but you interrupted my process which started only a few hours ago. What's the rush? I agree with most of the cuts, but know the material best, and where it should go; was in the process of creating an "Other Redskins" article were content from both this and the main controversy article could reside. My method of editing is to comment out, which makes it easier to move content than from DIFFs. There are multiple uses of named refs, one of which you broke. Godot13's talk page

Cirt-

You are welcome to write on my talk page, or correct a typo if you make one. Thanks--Godot13 (talk) 21:48, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

  • Update: I tried to make an attempt at good faith, by: (1) striking my own comments with strike-through that were seen by Godot13 as rude or condescending, (2) reducing the size of an image on the page that I placed there as an example of SVG Vector Graphic sizing, and (3) offering a way to move forward with WP:Wikilove and a Cup of tea to Godot13. Unfortunately, all of these attempts at good faith on my part were summarily reverted, by Godot13, at DIFF. I'm really trying here, by attempting to make three (3) good faith gestures, but, unfortunately, they're not being received at this time by the user. — Cirt (talk) 21:50, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

reviewing more GA noms

Re this: I do review one for every one I nominate, usually from the "longest without being reviewed" list; I'd love to do two but, unless one is an easy fail, I usually can't find the time for a serious review (When I review any GA-nominated article, I like to print it out and do a hard-copy edit, with notes, before going online with my thoughts ... I think all nominators deserve that level of review for their efforts. Often, some of the really long ones use up quite a bit of paper, so I also think of that. Athletes First - Page Creation

Hi Cirt -

Hope this finds you well. I'm reaching out to follow-up on a page I created five years ago for our agency, Athletes First. We are a sports agency that represents more than 200 players, coaches and broadcasters in the NFL. I would like to create this page with new content and I'm reaching out to the admin who originally deleted our page (you) to ensure that's alright. Can you please let me know what I need to do to move forward? I can provide plenty of references and background if it helps. Let me know.

Thanks, Austin — Preceding unsigned comment added by Austinlyman (talkcontribs) 16:44, 15 October 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for your Quality improvement efforts on Wikipedia. Sorry, but this one is a bit outside my area of expertise. Not sure how you ended up notifying me, in particular, anyways. But I suggest you post neutrally-worded-notices to talk pages of relevant WikiProjects asking for help, such as Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Awards and prizes, Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Orders, Decorations, and Medals, and Wikipedia talk:Noticeboard for India-related topics. I wish you the best of luck, — Cirt (talk) 10:13, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for commenting on my FAC. As you suggested, I consulted a few native English speakers to copy-edit the article. Unfortunately none of them were kind enough to respond. -- Frankie talk 10:54, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

Sorry to hear that! I suggest you also try posting neutrally worded notices to talk pages of relevant WikiProjects, and post a request at WP:GOCE, and ask some of your friends who are Category:User en-5 or Category:User en-N but might not be actual Wikipedia editors themselves but just friends in-real-life, to read over the article. Forever's GA nom and photograph

I found a couple of photos of both Gruffudd and the cast on Flickr for section 6.1 of Forever's GA nom. I have a quick question, though. Can you use photos with CC BY-ND 2.0 licenses on Wikipedia without it violating copyrights? SciGal (talk) 21:10, 18 October 2015 (UTC)

I've noted the questions in your section. I have taken care of section 7. Section 9 is on the to-do list. I addressed section 10 in section 2.1 of my response above your reevaluation.
As for the photos, the link itself was a little confusing, so I looked it up on Wikipedia. I found that I cannot use the photos that I was thinking of as the ND renders the image non-free. I tried to find one on Wikimedia, but there weren't any from Forever. The closest that I could find was one for a Comic-Con panel for Ringer.SciGal (talk) 21:28, 18 October 2015 (UTC)
Now, I see your note about using individual episodes as references. Thanks.SciGal (talk) 21:29, 18 October 2015 (UTC)
You're right about Gruffudd; several of my friends were talking about that the other day.
Are there any other photos that I can get if I can?SciGal (talk) 22:44, 18 October 2015 (UTC)

Crinoline pic swap

Hi Cirt! Just letting you know that I have substituted one of the images in Crinoline and as you recently reviewed it for GA status, just wanted to give you a heads-up in case you wanted to double-check that there are no concerns with it and it won't affect the GA status (though I can't see how it would). I thought it was a far better illustration in that it showed not just a Dior crinoline, but the actual crinoline petticoat worn underneath. Mabalu (talk) 02:33, 19 October 2015 (UTC)

Would you consider putting up the perspective-corrected version as an ALT? The downside is that it could split the vote, but there are pros and cons to each image, mainly the perspective correction is more pleasing (personally), but it does show a little in the stars on the left side... Just a thought.--Godot13 (talk) 17:13, 15 October 2015 (UTC)

I've created the WP:Deletion to Quality Award.

This recognizes editors who've taken a page previously considered for deletion — to Featured Article or Good Article quality.

The award is inspired by the Wikipedia:Million Award, the Wikipedia:Article Rescue Squadron, and the Wikipedia:WikiProject Quality Article Improvement.

Please see Wikipedia:Deletion to Quality Award.

Thank you,

Cirt (talk) 00:25, 21 October 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for the effort, and for letting us know, us being QAI, aka the cabal of the outcasts ;) - I clarified on our project page that what so far was called "Awards" means awards received by members, listing only outstanding ones. If you want to make the Deletion to Quality Award an award given by QAI, you are welcome to become a member and have a prefix as our so far only official award given has: Wikipedia:WikiProject Quality Article Improvement/PumpkinSky Prize. In any case, I suggest that you make your announcement on the project forum, WP:QAIPOST, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:25, 21 October 2015 (UTC)

For your assistance during the GA process for Dump months in helping me make improvements to the article that were better than I realized they'd be. — Daniel Case (talk) 00:33, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
@Daniel Case:, thank you very much for this, it's most appreciated to get feedback about the caliber of my GA Reviewing, so thank you !!! — Cirt (talk) 00:50, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
You're welcome once again. It's been a good day for me in terms of recognition, actually.

Just this morning (well, yesterday morning, as I type this) I received word that my FPC nomination at Commons of this image has succeeded. By a hair, but it succeeded. Honestly I had thought it wasn't going to pass after Ivar's !vote (in fact, feeling sore about that prospect had a little to do with me being a bit standoffish about the quote issue, since I had just read that !vote at the time).

And then this, which granted was more expected, to bookend the day. The hard cider I'm having now really tastes good!

I am thinking very seriously now (well, I always was, but now I feel really good about it after your review and comments with the barnstar) about nominating that article for FA. I'm thinking of developing a graph, maybe, to illustrate the statistical analyses section somehow.

And of course I don't know how long I'll wait ... if it ever gets to FA I'd love to have run on the first Friday of the winter dump months season, like I wanted the DYK to (an experience that taught me that if you really, really want something to run on a particular date, go to WT:DYK and ask to make sure you get the hook reviewed in time. Because it won't happen any other way). But the timeline for that this year is ... well, doable, but kind of tight. And if it were to happen in 2016, it would have to be on New Year's Day itself, and my experience is that a fair amount of people will have reasons to want particular FAs on January 1 that are more specific to it being New Year's Day than just the first Friday night of January (And honestly I wonder if anyone will release a movie for that weekend this year. I can't imagine a potentially deader Friday night for a new movie than New Year's Night).

Also, in the film department, I have long wanted to get The Devil Wears Prada to FA, and this would be a good target year since June 30 will be the 10th anniversary of its release. Perhaps by January that would be a good time to nominate it ... even without what I learned from this process, I knew that some work would have to be done on it before an FA nomination anyway.

Once again, thanks! Daniel Case (talk) 04:21, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

The Last Voyage of the Starship Enterprise

Hello Cirt: I am copy editing The Last Voyage of the Starship Enterprise for the GOCE. In the "Themes" section, this sentence appears at the end of the section: "He expressed shock that the Star Trek franchise was able to survive such a stinging rebuke."[1] I'm unclear as to the meaning here. Does this mean it's shocking that the Star Trek franchise survived the "rebuke" of being cancelled by NBC? or something else. Perhaps you could clarify? Two articles and GAN

Hello. Since sometime last year, I had been planning to nominate for GA status the two following articles: Mami Kawada and LiSA (Japanese musician, born 1987), which I and other users have been working on for quite some time. However, I wanted to make sure that both articles are at a quality where they have a shot at GA before nominating them for GA status. Given that you seem to be experienced with GANs, do you think either article could pass a GA? Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 05:24, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

Comments from Jim

I'm sorry that you considered my comments at the Sonam Kapoor FAC to be selective. I only left out the second part of the quote because I had no objection to it. I've had the occasional run in with Americans (I don't know your nationality, so that's not aimed at you) who tell me that a particular article should be in US English because most English speakers are American, ignoring the many Anglophone countries in Australasia, Africa and the Caribbean and the millions of speakers in the subcontinent. I just felt that the assumption that the editor lacked full fluency because of his origins (turns out not to be Indian anyway) was unfortunate, although clearly unintended. There is at least one Indian editor on Wikipedia who regularly copyedits my work.

FWIW, my only paid work these days is as a copy editor, which I suppose makes me "professional level" writer. However, I am aware that it is my specialist technical knowledge rather than my literacy skills that matter most for that. If you got the impression that I was distorting what you said to score points, I can only say that there was no intention to "cherry-pick" and I apologise if that's how it came across. I was looking at Template:N/a and I noticed that the colors are not AAA compliant ([1]).

I've been changing the foreground color from grey to #2C2C2C on similar templates like Template:TableTBA, Template:Unknown and Template:Dunno, which all had the same issue. I don't have permission to edit Template:N/a by myself, so if you could do it for me I would greatly appreciate it. Grapesoda22 (talk) 20:32, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Hustler Magazine v. Falwell edit

I hope this is the correct way to contact you but you contacted me about an edit I made to Hustler Magazine v. Falwell and the case citations, from Hustler, that backs-up my edit are:

http://caselaw.findlaw.com/us-supreme-court/485/46.html

"Of course, this does not mean that any speech about a public figure is immune from sanction in the form of damages. Since New York Times Co. v. Sullivan, 376 U.S. 254 (1964), we have consistently ruled that a public figure may hold a speaker liable for the damage to reputation caused by publication of a DEFAMATORY FALSEHOOD, but only if the statement was made "with knowledge that it was false or with reckless disregard of whether it was false or not." Id., at 279-280. False statements of fact are particularly valueless; they interfere with the truth-seeking function of the marketplace of ideas, and they cause damage to an individual's reputation that cannot easily be repaired by counterspeech, however persuasive or effective. See Gertz, 418 U.S., at 340 , 344, n. 9. But even though falsehoods have little value in and of themselves, they are "nevertheless inevitable in free debate," id., at 340, and a rule that would impose strict liability on a publisher for false factual assertions would have an undoubted "chilling" effect on speech relating to public figures that does have constitutional value. "Freedoms of expression require "`breathing space.'" Philadelphia Newspapers, Inc. v. Hepps, 475 U.S. 767, 772 (1986) (quoting New York Times, supra, at 272). This breathing space is provided by a CONSTITUTIONAL RULE that allows public figures to RECOVER FOR LIBEL or DEFAMATION ONLY when they can prove BOTH that the statement was FALSE and that the statement was made with the REQUISTE level of CULPABILITY."

Libel (aka: an outright lie) is NOT PROTECTED 1st Amendment Speech, so my edit was on the MONEY!!!!!

Then, later on in Hustler, the Court said:

"See also Street v. New York, 394 U.S. 576, 592 (1969) ("It is firmly settled that . . . the public expression of ideas may not be prohibited merely because the ideas are themselves offensive to some of their hearers"). Admittedly, these oft-repeated First Amendment principles, like other principles, are SUBJECT TO LIMITATIONS. We recognized in Pacifica Foundation, that speech that is "`vulgar,' `offensive,' and `shocking'" is "NOT ENTITLED TO ABSOLUTE CONSTITUTIONAL PROTECTION under ALL circumstances." 438 U.S., at 747 . In Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire, 315 U.S. 568 (1942), we held that a State could lawfully punish an individual for the use of insulting "`fighting' words - those which by their very utterance inflict injury or TEND TO INCITE AN IMMEDIATE BREACH OF THE PEACE." Id., at 571-572. These limitations are but recognition of the observation in Dun & Bradstreet, Inc. v. Greenmoss Builders, Inc., 472 U.S. 749, 758 (1985), that this Court has "LONG RECOGNIZED THAT NOT ALL SPEECH IS OF EQUAL First Amendment IMPORTANCE." But the sort of expression involved in this case does not seem to us to be governed by any EXCEPTION to the GENERAL First Amendment PRINCIPLES stated above.

We conclude that public figures and public officials may not recover for the tort of intentional infliction of emotional distress by reason of publications such as the one here at issue without showing in addition that the publication contains a FALSE STATEMENT OF FACT which was made with "ACTUAL MALICE," i. e., WITH KNOWLEDGE that the STATEMENT WAS FALSE or with RECKLESS DISREGARD as to whether or not it was TRUE. This is not merely a "blind application" of the New York Times standard, see Time, Inc. v. Hill, 385 U.S. 374, 390 (1967), it reflects our considered judgment that such a standard is necessary to give adequate "breathing space" to the FREEDOMS PROTECTED BY the First Amendment."

Please restore my edit.  :)

Thanks!  :)

One more thing about my Edit

The NEXT sentence that followed my edit, says this:

"Thus, Hustler magazine's parody of Jerry Falwell was DEEMED to be WITHIN the LAW ..."

That goes to the HEART of what I said! I said that you cannot be held liable for your public speech:

"when the speech involved qualifies as protected First Amendment speech"

Please RESTORE my edit, it is CORRECT and the way it is currently stated, AFTER YOUR REMOVAL OF MY EDIT, it NOW says that you can say anything you want against a public figure and you cannot be held liable for it and if you don't restore my edit, if someone is sued for defamation, all they have to do is point at you and say "He said I could say it" and you are liable in the matter and all because you REMOVED my LAWFUL edit.

You are now liable in any and all Defamation matters that may occur, until you restore my edit, and all because you removed an edit that you are clearly not qualified to remove and Wiki members should not REMOVE any edits from LEGAL matters UNLESS you are a LICENSED Attorney at Law.

Please restore my edit.  :)

Thanks!  :)

Ribbit  :)

Hi Cirt! I noticed you're an active member of Wikiproject Media. I just posted a note there about the Uproxx entry because I recently wrote a new draft for the article and would love someone to review it. If you take a look at the article now, I think you'll see why it needs a rewrite—the content is incomplete, outdated, and some of the sourcing is weak. If you're up for it, I'd love your help reviewing what I've put together, or to hear any suggestions you might have for the article. As a full disclosure, I have a financial conflict of interest and worked on the draft on behalf of Uproxx. I won't make changes myself and am very open to feedback! However, it appears you deleted this article in 2010, and the AFD page is rather short on details. I fully realize how long ago this was but is there any chance you could tell me something more so I can explain to the subjecty it cannot be restored?--S Philbrick(Talk) 20:02, 4 March 2016 (UTC)

As the closing sysop of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Castle Point Anime Convention, and as per the instructions on WP:DRV, I wanted to reach out to you to ask if it would be appropriate to re-create the article. The AFD was 5 years ago, and since then the convention has received more third-party coverage.

There are a number of articles from The Jersey Journal and a lot more (albeit less reliable) other sources. Do you think there would be enough coverage to re-create the article? Or is it controversial enough to file a WP:DRV? Or is there still not enough coverage that I shouldn't even bother. — Parent5446 (msg email) 05:08, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

Congratulations and a suggestion

You did a beautiful job in expanding The Signpost (Wikipedia). This is exactly the kind of article Wikipedia needs more of, and you wrote it really nicely, as usual. The pictures look great, too. Given your wealth of knowledge about all things free speech, would you be interested in setting up a Wikiproject? I recently discovered that there's a world of books about assholes out there that don't have Wikipedia articles, so I made a start by adding Assholes: A Theory to the sum of human knowledge. Imagine my surprise when I found out that there is no WikiProject Assholes. Assholes are such a quintessential part of the human experience, and there are a lot of fascinating books about the subject that need coverage, such as "The Secret To Deal With Ass Holes Bitches And Idiots: How To Identified Demonic Spirits, Dangerous Buisness!" by Dr. James A McBean. We need to work toward that 6 million article mark, and who better to lead this project than someone with your experience and standing in the community. I'm sorry you and I got off on a rocky start, but that's all in the past as far as I'm concerned. If you do set up WikiProject Assholes, I will try my best to help out whenever I can. Best wishes, and keep up the good work DracoE 12:48, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

Cirt, I'm very much afraid that this review has been abandoned by Zanimum, who has a history of starting reviews and then not getting back to them for months, if ever. He has not been responsive to my posts on his talk page.

At the moment, there are 29 unreviewed GA nominations older than this one. With the GA Cup in full swing, I think it's likely that this nomination would be picked up in reasonably short order: the top 10 oldest unreviewed noms qualify for an extra 10 points in the competition, so it shouldn't be too long before this would be in the top 10. (It's old enough to qualify for a 6 or 8 point bonus regardless.) If you like, I would be happy to put the nomination back in the reviewing pool, so it is available to GA Cup (and other) reviewers. Just let me know. I may do so eventually anyway, given Zanimum's track record. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 08:05, 16 March 2016 (UTC)

Okay, BlueMoonset, understood, perhaps try to give Zanimum a little bit more time. Thank you, — Cirt (talk) 11:04, 16 March 2016 (UTC)

How do you decide when to use one-click archiver?

Hi, Cirt,

I notice from time to time that you'll visit a talk page that I watch and use the one-click archiver to archive, one at a time, a large number of old discussions, especially on project talk pages. I've been setting for the first time (or resetting) archive bot instructions on talk pages when I see a lot of old discussions, and I wonder what you think the pros and cons are of using different tools for that job. One advantage I see in just resetting an archive bot instruction is that it is a long-term fix for cleaning up the talk page, and ensures everything gets archived in chronological order. Relying on the bots also makes the clean-up of a talk page a single editing action visible in users' watchlists, which I think is a courtesy to however many other users watch those same talk pages. But you may have a rationale I don't understand for doing as you do (I'm aware you've been here much longer than I have), so feel free to let me know any reason you have for preferring the one-click archiver to an edit of a talk page's archive bot settings. All the best; yours for a well discussed, collaborative, well referenced Wikipedia. -- WeijiBaikeBianji (Watch my talk, How I edit) 00:23, 27 March 2016 (UTC)

GA/FA content

Hi Cirt, I noticed you've brought an impressive number of articles to GA and FA status. I was wondering how this is actually done, as even after looking at the relevant guidelines I can't understand how to do this with an article. Thanks, --Rubbish computer (Merry Christmas!: ...And a Happy New Year!) 20:20, 20 December 2015 (UTC)

Cirt, I'd like to suggest that your nomination be put back into the reviewing pool; its seniority would be intact. If we do, it would be the sixth oldest unreviewed nomination, and as such will be snapped up quickly for review in the ongoing GA Cup: the ten oldest unreviewed nominations get the maximum bonus points for competitors, and six of the previous top 10 were snapped up in the past twelve hours. I'm not guaranteeing that The Land of Gorch would be picked up that quickly, but I would be extremely surprised if you had to wait more than a week to get a reviewer who would be invested in doing a prompt and proper review.

I'm very sorry that Zanimum has not been responsive; my experience, unfortunately, is that reviews can take months, as has happened here, and several have been, like this one, effectively abandoned, and had to be put back into the reviewing pool.

Please let me know what you'd like me to do. Thank you. Note that the review has been open for 85 days now; if Zanimum hasn't responded by the time it hits 90 days, I will be returning it to the pool regardless. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:34, 27 March 2016 (UTC)

Okay, BlueMoonset, if you're certain it'll get reviewed relatively quickly, that sounds good. — Cirt (talk) 15:52, 27 March 2016 (UTC)
It's done. As I noted, it's sixth on the list, and the top five are displayed near the beginning of the main GAN page. If it isn't picked up by the end of next weekend I'll be shocked, and I actually expect it to be snapped up before then, what with the next round of the GA Cup starting on Friday. BlueMoonset (talk) 17:28, 27 March 2016 (UTC)
Alright, BlueMoonset, I sure hope you're right. Thank you very much for your help, — Cirt (talk) 17:33, 27 March 2016 (UTC)
I'll be terribly embarrassed if I'm wrong. I think you'll see it show up in the Good Articles project box, that I just noticed is here on your talk page, any day now as being in the five oldest unreviewed GANs. From there, you'll be able to monitor its progress, though of course sometimes articles are taken out of order as a reviewer's mood strikes. Best of luck! Text from: Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/From The Doctor to my son Thomas :

Peter Capaldi in 2015

"From The Doctor to my son Thomas" is a viral video recorded by actor Peter Capaldi and sent to autistic nine-year-old Thomas Goodall to console him over grief from the death of his grandmother. Capaldi filmed the video in character as the 12th incarnation of the Doctor in the BBC science-fiction series Doctor Who. Capaldi's message had a positive effect on Thomas; his father said the boy smiled for the first time since learning of his grandmother's death and gained the courage to go to her funeral. Thomas's father posted the video to YouTube on 6 November 2014. He explained to media he wanted to make the video available to his family and had no idea it would become popular. CNN reported that the video was viewed over 200,000 times in its first 48-hours online. Less than a week later it had over 900,000 total views. BBC News observed that Capaldi's message had become a viral video, and ITV News described response to the video as a global phenomenon. The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, and MTV called the recording a touching video to a young child suffering from grief. BT commented it was Capaldi's best contribution as the character of the Doctor to date. (Full article...)

First of all thank you for your guidance

Cirt

First of all thank you for your guidance, although I find it hard to workout exactly what to do on Wikipedia being an extreme newcomer, not only to Wikipedia but to all social media...

The comments referencing my creation of an autobiography will I hope be answered in that I was not knowingly doing so, but rather correcting or modifying what others had written without realising the consequences. My edits were either typo corrections or mistaken additions followed by deletions.

Where I might have sought to provide references to note-worthy sections, there has appeared an unfortunate issue - many references that might be contemporary to the text have not survived the analogue era - i.e. no links now exist. Everything written is true but how does it become verifiable? For example articles in the UK newspapers about the OneStopFresh deli in 2000-2010 have not survived archive limitations or the sites have gone off-line.

I also would like to comment that my husband Michael Messenger has tried to help in resolving these problems for Wikipedia, but he is not fluent either, and now also is on the 'Deletion' list!

Of course I think I have done some noteworthy stuff in my varied life: I helped myself through my careers and now help others but on Wikipedia, I seem to be being pilloried for blatant self-service - I am proud of my life but there has been no intent to self-glorify. Please help me through the canyons of content - I can't see what should happen next...

regards

Number 57

Hi, I noticed you currently have a disagreement with Number 57. I can tell you that I would not waste any more time trying to reason with him nor have I ever come across such a bad faith admin on here before.

To illustrate my point he tried to editwar content out of an article against WP:1RR here and here. Then whilst there was a discussion pending on the talk page, rather than responding to the points being made, he decided to take the matter to ANI here to have administrative action taken against me.
