Information icon Hello. Regarding the recent reverts you made, just wanted to inform you: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template index/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Using these can help further reduce vandalism. Thank you, and happy editing!! Kpddg (talk) 15:40, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Kpddg: Oh I didn't actually know about that! I was wondering how people were warning them like that. I'll have a look at that now. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 15:43, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sure!! You can also have a look at Wikipedia:Twinkle. This is also pretty useful. Thank You. Kpddg (talk) 15:45, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Hugo de Castro. Good afternoon, Brazil is the country with the most biodiversity in the world and this is reflected in the great variety of long-distance trails. We are at a very important moment in the implementation of long-distance trails and everything is done by volunteers. If you can help us with these publications we would be very grateful. Come and meet us here in Brazil. If you want to know a little more about the work being done: http://www.redetrilhas.org.br/w3/ Thank you so much!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hugodcp (talkcontribs) 18:03, 22 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Hugodcp: Unfortunately that site is in Portuguese, so that will not be of any use to me. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 11:21, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Alpha Piscis Austrini: I revised the text and I believe it was a good version. I would like to know if I can publish the text below?

In Brazil, Long-distance trails are regulated by two Federal Government Decrees. The trails are implemented and managed by Government agencies in partnership with the Brazilian Trails Network Association[1] (Rede Brasileira de Trilhas in portuguese) and its affiliated trails and partners. The Trails Network is the result of a maturing process of more than 20 years of implementation of trails, training trips, congresses, experts meetings and technical visits to more than 50 Long-distance trails in the world. The aim of the Trails Network is to create a national system made up of trails that are pleasant to hike, but that also generate employment and income in the surroundings and, above all, function as conservation tools, as they link protected areas with natural corridors.

Today, the Brazilian Trails Network has more than 120 trails in different stages of implementation in more than 300 municipalities in the 25 of the 27 Brazilian states. They connect all Brazilian biomes. As of January 2022, Brazil has more than 5,500 km of managed trails and another 20,500 km planned to be implemented in the coming years[2].

Long Distance Nature Trails in Brazil:

  • Transmantiqueira National Trail: 1200 kilometers[3]
  • Transcarioca Trail: 180 kilometers[4] [5] [6]
  • Atlantic Amazon Trail: 350 kilometers
  • Pioneers Route: 390 kilometers
  • Serra do Mar Trail: 300 kilometers
@Hugodcp: if you can find some other sources that also talk about these trails, and as long as that is put into your own words, then I believe that is okay to use. If you want you can ask other people for confirmation first, but I think what you have is okay at the moment. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 07:30, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Alpha Piscis Austrini: Hi. Thanks for the orientation. I have included several references and sources to the text above. Can I publish this text as is? (talk)
@Hugodcp: Hmm I would also find a source for this as well: "As of January 2022, Brazil has more than 5,500 km of managed trails and another 20,500 km planned to be implemented in the coming years." After that, I think that would be good to add. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 11:34, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Alpha Piscis Austrini: Hello, I already included the requested reference. Thank you very much!(talk) 09:37, 27 January 2022 (UTC-03:00)

Content removal of Microsoft Teams

[edit]

Why did you warning me on my talk page for no reason just about the Microsoft Teams article and then you said "I noticed that you recently removed content from Microsoft Teams without adequately explaining why." Naturally the Microsoft Teams is an online meeting so I said the reason for the change is Webinar. Is that enough or not? 112.200.32.24 (talk) 14:52, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That is not an adequate reason. Microsoft Teams is notable enough to have its own article. Redirecting it to digital marketing, without discussion, is not a good enough reason to do that. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 14:53, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted my new content

[edit]

Hi, I want some help on the content which is deleted. Please help me on this.C.krishnamv (talk) 14:43, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In your edit, first of all, none of what you said was sourced, which was grounds for removal anyway. But second of all, phrases like "For the past 21 years Maveric has hired a number of employees from all over India and taken care of each and everyone in the best possible way." and "Maveric Systems offers a broad spectrum of job opportunities under a professional & pleasant working environment." sounds like promotion and non-neutral point of view. WP:NPOV might help with this. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 14:56, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"lol"

[edit]

I noticed that you replied "lol" to an edit filter false positive report where the user was blocked. Please refrain from doing so in the future as it's not only rude but inappropriate to do so. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 13:34, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I just found the whole situation funny. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 13:35, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that, however remember that Wikipedia is not a social network, and comments like that are often seen as unconstructive. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 13:38, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Got it. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 13:39, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Glad you understand. I noticed while looking at your talk page that you mainly do anti-vandalism work. Something you should remember while doing so is Don't feed the trolls. They just want attention and if you give them that, it encourages them to continue their bad behavior. Ignore the bad behavior (just giving them a warning will still be ignoring the bad behavior) and praise the good behavior. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 13:42, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I always keep that in mind. Engaging with trolls is a waste of time anyway. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 13:50, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Good. Also, seeing your contributions, I can see why you decided to reply "lol" to the EFFPR (Edit filter false positive report) since you had warned the user previously. Based on their description of their report, they might be the subject of the article, in which case they would have a WP:COI. Probably wouldn't have mattered if you told them anyway since I've noticed that IPs tend to ignore the warnings on their talk page. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 13:55, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ehhhh I didn't really see the point, seeing that they probably would have gotten blocked regardless of what I did. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 13:56, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Makes sense. Anyways, I'm glad you're understanding what I'm saying. Hope I see you again in the future. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 13:59, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Likewise. I see you around quite a bit actually. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 14:00, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ah nice. I don't think I've seen you before now so you probably just happen to see some edits I make but never actually have anything to do with me. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 14:02, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nah I see you in other places too. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 14:03, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Anyway I'm going to heed your advice now and stop commenting here now since, like you said, Wikipedia is not a social network. I don't know if this also applies to user talk pages, but regardless, not gonna take that risk. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 14:05, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting my page

[edit]

Can you please not delete everything I wrote on the page? I worked very hard on it. It's just a redirect page anyways and no one will ever go there. 2001:14BB:C0:1004:91FF:30C6:9763:52A2 (talk) 16:53, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That does not matter. You cannot put stuff like that there. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 16:55, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why not? It's the free encyclopedia. It doesn't affect anyone negatively. Actually, it does quite the opposite. It's humorous and hopefully will brighten someone's day. And again, it was simply a redirect page, with zero text whatsoever, so let me have my freedom and make someone smile. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:14BB:C0:1004:91FF:30C6:9763:52A2 (talk) 16:58, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That's not how that works. At all. Redirect pages exist for a reason. They have a purpose. You can't just do whatever you want with it and expect no one to do anything just because it has "zero text whatsoever." Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 10:37, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

I mainly reverted because of the formatting, not because of the information itself. The information was not presented properly enough. You can add it back, but with proper formatting. Cosmetic edit

[edit]

Your edit here was cosmetic, so shouldn't be made, especially not using semi-automated editing tools like AWB. Happy editing! Qwerfjkltalk 20:36, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reminding me. Should have reviewed the changes more carefully before submitting. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 06:38, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Tool not so great

[edit]

Hi Alpha Piscis Austrini, I noticed this edit that you made to Rat torture using AWB. A simple glance at the previous IP edits would have shown that they were only the nonsensical work of a vandal, which not only added gibberish to the text, but even removed references and categories. Even after being here for 5 years I still don't use automated tools at all and am not sure how they work; still, it is obvious in this case that the tool could not see the forest for the trees. All that was really needed was a simple reverting of vandalism, which I already did manually. We were all new here once and have made mistakes, so I just wanted to let you know what happened. Cheers and happy continued vandal-fighting. Best, StonyBrook (talk) 00:11, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Azrael, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Christian Lange. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Scotchlok redirect

[edit]

Apparently you reverted Scotchlok. Did you actually look at the provided ref? Scotchlok is absolutely *not* a type of twist-on wire connector, it's an IDC connector, a completely different type of splice. 82.24.247.127 (talk) 00:11, 5 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted it because there were references inside a redirect, which a redirect is not supposed to have. You are free to make a separate article about it however. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 03:03, 5 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, so you'd accept a non-referenced redirect? (I couldn't find any policy statement one way or the other about refs for redirects, but it seemed like some sort of proof of it being correct was in order, and it appeared to work just fine with no ill effects. I've no idea whether the trademark/brandname Scotchlok is worthy of a whole article of its own, but if the redirect is going to exist at all it may as well point to the right thing.) 82.24.247.127 (talk) 20:11, 5 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well there is an article on IDC connectors, at Insulation-displacement connector. You can try redirecting there instead? Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 05:04, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I saw that article, but it's really more concentrated on data cables, the bit about power applications is really tiny. The section link to Electrical connector#Insulation-displacement connectors where I redirected it to seemed a better match. 82.24.247.127 (talk) 02:30, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Gynaecologist

[edit]

Hi Alpha Piscis Austrini. Hope you are doing well. Thanks for reviewing this article. However I feel that Gynaecologist as article will be useful for students globally. Request you to restore it to main space or guide me to improve it to move it. Thanks. Gardenkur (talk) 02:31, 13 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion, you could probably expand the already-existing gynaecology article with that info. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 12:43, 13 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Alpha Piscis Austrini. Thanks for your reply. As per Wikipedia policies,if an article has sufficient reliable sources,it can qualify as separate article. Also Gynaecology is subject and Gynaecologist is one who pursues it. Kindly guide. Thanks. Gardenkur (talk) 13:53, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That is true, however, if you look at the "Therapies" and "Specialist Training" section in the gynaecology article, there is already some information there about what a gynaecologist is and what a gynaecologist does. Looking through the revision history of the gynaecologist article (see [1]), some of the stuff there is already covered in the gynaecology article, especially the "Activities" section. And for the "Qualifications and Training" section, that's already covered in the infobox in the "Specialist Training" section in gynaecology. And besides, it doesn't list what specific region those qualifications come from, because I'm sure it would be different per country. Those were the basis for why I redirected back to gynaecology. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 14:06, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Alpha Piscis Austrini. Thanks for your reply. However, you know Gynaecologist is much more common term than gynaecology. Also the basic education across world is same as the degree deals with the subject. However, if that is an issue I can change its country to India. As you suggest, but I feel in information this article will be useful. Thanks. Gardenkur (talk) 15:30, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Alpha Piscis Austrini. The article Gynaecologist was written from student perspective and the article on Gynaecology is on treatment information. Hence both are independent and reliable. Let me know if you have any reservations. Gardenkur (talk) 03:25, 23 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I still think, in my opinion at least, that it should be expanded under a separate section instead of a separate article. All the stuff you added could have been written in one section, which in my opinion is not enough for a separate article. However, you can ask others for further clarification, as I'm not too experienced in this stuff myself. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 13:23, 23 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

Your AWB edit at Swarthmore College

[edit]

I'm surprised this edit actually works ... I've never encountered HTML comments like that. I might go and change them to regular comments, but I wonder if you know why those ones seem to work. Graham87 14:49, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's because of the <!-- right after the admissions heading, before the all-caps sentence, and the --> after the double curly braces ("}}"). The endings of the comments within the infobox had the x in it, so I figured, may as well apply them to the other side. That's probably not the best way to do it, but that seemed to get rid of the CheckWiki error about the "Comment without correct end", so I guess that was one way to address it. And one minor thing, I didn't use AWB for that edit, I used WPCleaner. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 15:00, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, oops. And it turns out that my edit messed things up, so I've self-reverted it ... just glancing at the diff quickly, I thought the edit related to the article's regular infobox and didn't realise there was a commented-out secondary one. Pinging Sdkb, who set this thing up ... Graham87 15:22, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, comments within comments tend to be quite messy, since they get interpreted as errors. Not sure how to best fix it without causing additional problems. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 15:24, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, the -x-> things are essentially comments within comments, trying to avoid ending the commenting out of the infobox early. My suggested fix would be to just convert the existing admissions table to the infobox and then remove the commenting out to make the whole thing moot. Cheers, {{u|Sdkb}}talk 00:18, 3 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Sdkb: Sounds good, eel free to do that. Graham87 02:30, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling changes

[edit]

Hello Alpha Piscis Austrini, I noticed that you have recently edited a number of Wikipedia articles in which you changed the spelling from American to British English, and especially the word center to centre. This is not according to the Wikipedia Manual of Style, which says: "When either of two styles are acceptable it is inappropriate for a Wikipedia editor to change from one style to another ...". Before you apply more spelling changes, you might want to read some more in the Wikipedia Manual of style, and especially the sections Retaining existing styles and Retaining the existing variety. I reverted some of your edits. Keesal (talk) 11:09, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there, thanks for your concern. The reason why I was doing that was because there was both American and British spellings in the article. The version in the lede was American, and in the other paragraph was using British spelling. I was changing them so that the spelling was consistent throughout the articles, although that does not seem to have been reflected in the edit summary of my edits. I'm looking at the links you stated, and I don't see anything about what happens when someone uses more than one variety of spelling within the same edit (in this case, the first edit of the article's creation). What should I do in this case then? Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 11:25, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And also since the varieties only occurred once each, there did not seem to be a preference of one over the other. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 11:27, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed I was a bit confused by the edit summary. I had not noticed that there were 2 spellings of the word in the articles. Keesal (talk) 14:20, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ah never mind. I just assumed they were introduced at the same time, but in fact they were not. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 11:29, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Disregard that bit where I mentioned that the edits were introduced at the same time. They were not. I apologise for that. After looking through, it seems like I should have used the American version, since that version was used first. Alpha Piscis Austrini (talk) 11:32, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
