History

[edit]

The school opened in the fall of 1998 in order to help kind of educate the rapidly increasing population of Olathe.[citation needed] In 2018, the famous rap/pop star Drake donated a small check of a million dollars to the middle school as a gesture of kindness and to help promote his new song God's Plan. As a result, the middle changed their name from Pioneer Trail Middle School to Drake Middle School as well as their logo to honor Drake's gesture

Academics

[edit]
Drake Middle School has yet to be designated a reward from Blue Ribbon Schools.

In 2018, Drake Middle School was nominated as a possible winner for the Kansas Best Schools reward. This was due to the schools historical name change.
