Former teams

Would it be worth adding a section for defunct clubs? Glasgow certainly has some notable ones, such as Third Lanark. The Edinburgh equivalent has such a section as does Template:Football in Fife and the templates I started for Dundee, Aberdeen and Angus. Dunarc (talk) 23:58, 16 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Don't see why not, on you go. (would prefer them listed at the bottom like Edinburgh and Fife though) Boothy m (talk) 12:22, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No objection in principle, although I would point out Third Lanark are already in Template:Glasgow which has a lot of overlap with this already - though it should probably be a case of removing a few from there if anyone feels there's too much on it. Other thing is that there's a lot of defunct (obscure) senior clubs going back to the 19th century and lots of juniors in the 20th century so it's difficult to see where you'd draw the line - or if you include all such eligible articles, it's gonna be a long list. Thanks - I would agree that number of clubs could be a problem, so I would suggest possibly limiting to former league clubs - by my reckoning this would be Third Lanark + Cowlairs F.C., Linthouse F.C., Northern F.C. and Thistle F.C.. Linthouse was technically not in Glasgow when the club existed (as Govan was a separate burgh and part of Lanarkshire in those days), but I know the general rule of thumb in these cases to use the current boundaries (and several other Glasgow clubs were not technically in Glasgow when they started). I have gone ahead and added in a defunct league clubs section as outlined above. No problem about removing it if other editors do not feel that it works/fits. Dunarc (talk) 23:44, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good, thanks you. I wouldn't be averse to expanding it further if we can manage it. Jellyman (talk) 10:12, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
